Setting Application Access Type in Shared Services

Note:

This topic does not apply to Essbase native security mode.

Essbase and Oracle Hyperion Planning, Fusion Edition have the concept of "application access type" for Essbase and Planning users. For example, when an Essbase user is created using any Essbase administration tool, the user is automatically assigned the application access type "Essbase"; when a Planning user is created using the Planning interface, the user is automatically assigned the application access type "Planning." A user’s application access type specifies whether the user has access to Essbase applications only, to Planning applications only, or to both.

When you set application access type, you automatically log in to Administration Services and Essbase as the Shared Services Console logged in user. This user must be a valid Essbase Administrator and must have the Provisioning Manager role for the appropriate global applications.

For information about how to provision users in Shared Services, see the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System User and Role Security Guide.

To set application access type for users:

  1. In Shared Services, expand the Projects node, and select the global Essbase application.

    Note:

The project contains a global (server-wide) application that enables you to specify security at the Essbase Server level. The global application is named as follows: Essbase:server_name:#.

  2. Right-click and select Assign Access Control.

The Available Users box lists the users that are provisioned to the global application. To make sure all recently provisioned users and groups are displayed, click Refresh.

  3. Select the users that you want to work with.

  4. Click the appropriate arrow button to move your selections to the Selected Users box. To move all users, click the double arrow button.

  5. Click Next.

    Selected users are displayed.

  6. Select the check box next to the users whose application access type you want to change.

  7. From User type, select Essbase or Planning.

  8. Next to User type, click the Apply check mark to apply your selections.

    Note:

If you have not yet clicked Save, you can click Reset to revert to the original settings (or the last saved settings).

  9. Click Save to save the changes.

Status messages are displayed on a new screen. The changes are reflected immediately in Administration Services Console.
