Release 11.1.2.1
This document describes the new features in Oracle Essbase Administration Services Release 11.1.2 and Release 11.1.2.1. For more information about these features, see the Oracle Essbase Administration Services Online Help.
For information about the new features in Oracle Essbase, see the Oracle Essbase New Features.
Previously, it was necessary to specify rules files for each data file prior to a data load, even if all data files used the same rules files. Now, you can select multiple data files and apply the same rules file or files to all of them.
This release supports the use of Secure Socket Layers (SSL) to connect with Essbase Servers.
In the Open SQL Data Source dialog box, you can now select No SQL Data Source for subsequent queries. This enables you to remove SQL information from the rules file.
Administration Services includes a set of predefined templates to assist you in creating formulas within aggregate storage outlines. You use these templates in the Member Properties—Formulas tab. Each template opens a form containing input fields for all required information. You select members from the member tree and enter them in the formulas.
Administration Services now provides the option to log all activity within Administration Services Console. In the event you experience problems and need technical assistance, these logs can help diagnose the problem.
In an outline that does not allow duplicate members, when member information is loaded for a dimension build, the first member with a given name is designated the primary member and subsequent members with the same name are designated shared members. Depending on the order in which data is loaded, it is possible to create a shared member that is higher in the outline than its primary member. However, when the outline is validated, the primary member must occur before any shared members in the outline, or the validation will fail with a verification error.
Administration Services now provides the option to automatically “fix” the outline, converting the first occurrence of a shared member into the primary member, and the former primary member into a shared member. This eliminates the previous validation error on outlines where auto-fix is enabled.
Administration Services now supports connecting to Oracle databases using the Oracle Call Interface (OCI). You can load data from Oracle databases using Data Prep Editor by specifying an OCI connect identifier.
Essbase and Administration Services support the following limits for user, group, and filter names:
Non-Unicode application limit: 256 bytes
Unicode-mode application limit: 256 characters
Besides supporting the conversion of non-Unicode block storage outlines to non-Unicode aggregate storage outlines, Essbase and Administration Services also support these conversion scenarios:
Non-Unicode block storage outline to Unicode aggregate storage outline
Unicode block storage outline to Unicode aggregate storage outline
