Runtime parameters allow you to enter different values and generate a new result set each time you run a report. This is useful for reports that have one or more varying parameters, such as start and stop dates, and zip codes.
To define a runtime parameter:
In the Runtime Parameter dialog box, select Query the user at runtime for the value of this parameter.
Enter a prompt to appear when a user runs the report.
For example, if you were defining a runtime parameter for Sales group, you could define the prompt to say: Enter a sales group.
