Notes:

· If you are starting from Release 9.2.x, Oracle recommends the following upgrade path: 9.2.0 to 9.2.1 to 11.1.2.1

· If you are starting from Release 9.3.x, Oracle recommends the following upgrade path: 9.3.0 to 9.3.1 to 9.3.3 to 11.1.2.1

· If you are starting from Release 11.1.1.x, Oracle recommends the following upgrade path: 11.1.1.0 or 11.1.1.1 or 11.1.1.2 to 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.1

· If you are starting from an earlier release, Oracle recommends that you upgrade to the highest level release that directly supports upgrade from your starting release.

· Security Synchronization between Essbase and Shared Services was removed in Essbase Release 9.3, starting with Release 9.3.1.4.1. Essbase and Shared Services Release 11.1.1.3, however, still synchronize security information. For this reason, if you are using Essbase Release 9.3.1.4.1, 9.3.1.5, 9.3.1.6, or 9.3.1.7, you must first upgrade all products to Release 9.3.3, as recommended above. Upgrading to Release 11.1.1.3 is not an option for these Essbase releases.

This option is no longer available, and is handled within Oracle’s Hyperion® Shared Services.

• 8772836, 9017154	In the Japanese version of Essbase, when an application is running in Unicode mode, the application log may display “garbage” characters when run with the start date option.

• 9042384	Launching the Substitution Variables window is not always successful.
• 9128341, 10004917, 10181763	When a rules file has been saved to the file system and reopened, if you make changes to that file and save it again, Administration Services may terminate abnormally.
• 9236071	When loading data from a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet with multiple tabs, only the data from the first tab will be loaded.
• 9326173	The Add Provider dialog box does not display all available Provider Services servers in the Registry.
• 9351219, 10004917	When a data file has been saved at the application level, attempting to open this data file after saving the associated rules file under another name and opening the new rules file may not work.
• 9389349, 10004917	When multiple members containing formulas are selected in Outline Editor, if you right-click to edit the formulas, the Delete Formulas button is not visible.
• 9400936	After viewing a report script using Report Viewer, closing Report Viewer may delete the script file.
• 9407431	Performing a partial data clear on an Essbase database may result in a “syntax error” message.
• 9443504	When converting a non-Unicode block storage application to a Unicode aggregate storage application, the new application and database cannot have names longer than eight characters.
• 9452899	The Find Members function in the Formula tab of the Member Properties dialog box may not work for aggregate storage applications.
• 9559989, 10004917	Refreshing security for a user with a username containing a period (.) may fail.
• 9561672, 10004917	Retrieving a list of users using Administration Services Release 9.3.1.5 takes a considerable amount of time.
• 9572606	Users other than those with Administrator roles for Essbase or Shared Services are able to see the status of background processes launched by all users and invoke the Admin Properties dialog box.
• 9596334	When creating a group with a name containing more than 30 characters, an error message will be generated stating “The max length of the name is 30 characters.” However, the group will be created.
• 9596350	When viewing an Essbase application running in native security mode, viewing groups in the Display Groups dialog box and selecting “Refresh” may cause abnormal display results.
• 9648139	When creating a user or group on an Essbase server running in Native Security mode, if the user or group name begins with a single quote or contains both single and double quotes, the operation will fail.
• 9682620	When preparing a data load using Data Prep Editor, if you join two or more fields and one or more records in one of the joined fields are null, the data load will fail and may cause Administration Server to terminate abnormally.
• 9720767, 10004917	The “Abort on Error” option should not be available when “Execute in the background” has been selected.
• 9742864	Attempting to access Administration Services online help from within Shared Services Console may fail with a “404 file not found” error.
• 9794338	Attempting to create a location alias for a database running on an Essbase Server under OPMN may fail. The error message thrown is, “One or more aliases were not added or updated. Check the messages panel for more information.”
• 9911355, 9827674, 10427834	When attempting to retrieve SQL Data with a dimension build rules file, the titles of dimension build fields are all cleared and the rules file will no longer be valid for data loading.
• 9912926	When creating a group name with a space in it, you may receive an “Invalid Object Name Specified” error. However, the group is created.
• 10023654	In the Japanese version of Administration Services, in the Formula tab of the Member Properties dialog box, member aliases are not displayed after selecting “Use Alias,” then “Default.”
• 10120067	When using MaxL Editor within Administration Services Console to import a dimension build file, the file may not parse correctly. This may also occur while running MaxL in batch mode, but not interactive mode.
• 10153751	When Essbase Server is running in standalone mode, you cannot create an external user. The option is greyed out in the Create User dialog box.
• 10174228	When adding child members in Outline Editor, attempting to add a child to an unexpanded parent with more than 100 children may result in a NULL argument Passed error.
• 10232206	The “Open File” dialog box offers a filter option for Lotus worksheet files (*.wk1, etc.), but Administration Services no longer supports these files.

• 8750271	Executing a data load in MaxL Editor using the “import…from local” command may result in deletion of the data and rules files.
• 8597646	When creating a filter in the Japanese language version of Administration Services, the function list does not display.
• 8716013	Attempting to find a member in Outline Viewer while a database restructuring is in progress may cause Administration Services Console to terminate abnormally.
• 8932239	When editing a block storage outline partition, the checkbox for the option “Outline changes move in the same direction as data changes" cannot be cleared.
• 8564304	In the partition editor, clearing the option “The target partition can be updated” for a partition does not persist if you close and then reopen the partition editor.
• 7442068	Attempting to externalize the native Administration Services admin user using the Externalize Users Wizard does not succeed. When you stop and then restart Administration Server, the admin user is no longer externalized.
• 7480641, 7607641	Under some circumstances, changes to application access settings may not be properly saved.
• 8972347	In earlier Administration Services releases, such as Release 7.1, users can open tables, select rows from the table, copy the selected rows, and paste the rows into a new Spreadsheet. In 9.3.1.x releases, this functionality was not available.
• 8972313, 8449783	When Administration Services Console and Administration Server are on different machines, running a report script with the {SUPMISSING} tag results in creation of a zero byte file. Since the file is created on the machine running Administration Server, the Console is unable to download the zero byte file into its file system.
• 8415996, 7271733	Administration Services custom views are not saved after disconnecting from the Essbase Server.
• 7490873	If an Administration Services user logs onto a UNIX server using different capitalization of their username, the log on will succeed, but an additional user folder will be created for that user with the new capitalization. For example, a user logging on as craig34 and as CRAIG34 will have one account, but two user folders.
• 7373672	When a list of Essbase users is displayed in Shared Services, the list is not always displayed in alphabetical order.
• 8965436, 8459751	When a user with the same username and password exists on two different Essbase servers (both of which use native security), and you copy the user from one of the Essbase servers to the other, selecting to keep the current password and replace the existing user, the copy fails.
• 8830216	When using Migration Wizard to migrate applications, not all outlines are migrated.
• 8679973	In Outline Editor, using the Edit > Replace function with member names will replace member names in all formulas, but the replacements may not be displayed in Outline Editor.
• 8972320	When a list of Essbase users is displayed in Shared Services, sorting of the list is case-sensitive. In other words, usernames beginning with A-Z will appear before usernames beginning with a-z.
• 9042128	Color coding of formula elements does not work in MDX Formula Editor.
• 7534633	In Outline Editor, applying a sort to a member node causes the entire member tree to be collapsed.
• 6573104	Depending on where focus is set in Enterprise View, MDX Editor may not launch when invoked.
• 10181781, 8669817	When copying an external user, the new user is created as a native user.

Known Issues

The following issues are the noteworthy known issues of this patch.

6552026	In general, no login statement is required when using MaxL Script Editor, because you are already logged in to Essbase Administration Services. However, to create a partition as an externally authenticated user, you must enter a login statement before the create partition statement. The login statement must include the full external user name with provider, as well as the host name. For example, login 'admin@Native Directory' 'password' on 'FQN'; create partition....;
9284745	When executing a data load in the background with “Abort on Error” selected, errors encountered during the data load may not result in terminating the process.
9711083	When using Calculation Editor, the commands DATAEXPORT and SET DATAEXPORTOPTIONS are not listed under "Functional Commands."
9791235	Searching for members using Outline Editor and the asterisk (*) wildcard may not retrieve the member or members. A similar search using Outline Viewer will succeed.
9955008	In Administration Services Console, when you attempt to copy a Planning application, the copy does not function properly. You should not be able to copy Planning applications from within Administration Services Console.
10101213	If you are running Administration Services Console in Windows 2008, you may not be able to create calculation scripts.
8459384	In the Simplified Chinese language version of Administration Services Console, log charts for errors and warnings are not displayed in Log Analyzer.

Accessing EPM System Product Documentation

The most recent version of each EPM System product guide is available for download from the Enterprise Performance Management System Documentation area of the OTN Web site (http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/epm.html). Setting Application Access Type

The functionality to set the application access type has been changed, and it is no longer possible to set the application access type from within Administration Services. Therefore, the Oracle Essbase Administration Services Online Help topic "Setting Application Access Type in Shared Services" is no longer valid. For current information on application access types, see the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System User and Role Security Guide.

Starting Administration Services Console

The name of the executable file used to start Administration Services Console has changed. If you need to start Administration Services Console from the file system, launch the file \console\bin\admincon.bat from the directory to which Administration Services Console was installed.

Cannot Import to an Existing Text List

In the Text List Manager, you cannot import to an existing text list, only to a new text list. When displaying an existing text list, the "import" option is disabled.

Copying and Pasting Code Snippets from PDFs

When you cut and paste code snippets from a PDF file, some characters can be lost during the paste operation, making the code snippet invalid.
Workaround: Cut and paste from the HTML version of the document.
