Release 11.1.2.0.000 New Features

Resetting Overwrite Properties for Measure Template

By default, changes you make to measure templates are applied to the dimensional measures they generate. You can however, edit those dimensional measures individually to overwrite the properties defined in the measure template. You can revert this back to the original measure template settings, such as assigned employees, frequencies, period-to-date functions by using the Reset Overwrite Properties option. This removes all those overwrite that were made on individual dimensional measures. For more information, see Chapter 7 of the Oracle Hyperion Performance Scorecard User Guide.

Editing External Data Sources

In previous releases if you promoted an Essbase database you had to edit the HPS_EXTERNAL_DATASOURCE database table on the target server to reference the correct Essbase application and database in the target environment. You can now perform this correction using the administration function in the application by modifying the external data source connection. You can also, in some conditions, modify Essbase databases and applications by editing the connection. For more information, see Chapters 4 and 5 of the Oracle Hyperion Performance Scorecard Administrator's Guide.

Supported Paths to this Release

You can upgrade to EPM System Release 11.1.2.1 from the following releases:

Note: For instructions to upgrade, see the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Installation and Configuration Guide, “Upgrading EPM System Products.”

Release Upgrade Path From

To

11.1.2.0.x

11.1.2.1

Note that when moving from Release 11.1.2.0.x to Release 11.1.2.1, you use the "Apply Maintenance Release" option in EPM System Installer, instead of following the documented upgrade procedures.

11.1.1.3.x

11.1.2.1

9.3.3.x

Note: If you were using Performance Management Architect Release 9.3.1, you can download the Performance Management Architect release 9.3.3 from My Oracle Support.

11.1.2.1

9.2.1.x

11.1.2.1

An environment that includes multiple releases, which can include an environment with one instance of Shared Services or an environment with two instances of Shared Services

See “Upgrading from an Environment with Multiple Releases” in the "Upgrading EPM System Products" chapter in the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Installation and Configuration Guide.

Notes:

·         If you are starting from Release 9.2.x, Oracle recommends the following upgrade path: 9.2.0 to 9.2.1 to 11.1.2.1

·         If you are starting from Release 9.3.x, Oracle recommends the following upgrade path: 9.3.0 to 9.3.1 to 9.3.3 to 11.1.2.1

·         If you are starting from Release 11.1.1.x, Oracle  recommends the following upgrade path: 11.1.1.0 or 11.1.1.1 or 11.1.1.2 to 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.1

·         If you are starting from an earlier release, Oracle recommends that you upgrade to the highest level release that directly supports upgrade from your starting release.

·         Security Synchronization between Essbase and Shared Services was removed in Essbase Release 9.3, starting with Release 9.3.1.4.1. Essbase and Shared Services Release 11.1.1.3, however, still synchronize security information. For this reason, if you are using Essbase Release 9.3.1.4.1, 9.3.1.5, 9.3.1.6, or 9.3.1.7, you must first upgrade all products to Release 9.3.3, as recommended above. Upgrading to Release 11.1.1.3 is not an option for these Essbase releases.

Known Issues

The following are the noteworthy known issues of this release.

Defect Number

Description

• 6956515

You cannot use Hebrew characters in dimension names. Doing so will prevent you from generating the star scheme used to create Essbase databases.

• 9564441

If you use the MFC behavior in the Import Export Utility to delete the template, the dimensional measures of the template are not deleted. This orphaned measures cause problem on the Results Collection page. As a workaround, do not delete measure template using import export utility but use the web application to do it.

• 7650524

Users assigned to groups in Oracle Hyperion Shared Services may not receive email alerts as expected. As a workaround, do not provision user indirectly via group.

• 7171918

You cannot use the equal operation in formulas that you define for performance indicator ranges that assess measure templates.

Tips and Troubleshooting

• To apply custom security roles created in Performance Scorecard to a large number of users in Shared Services, create the users in Shared Services and then select the Synchronize with Shared Services option in Performance Scorecard to automatically assign security roles and employee records to the users.

• To deploy the Alerter to a Web application server cluster, use a single instance of Alerter to avoid repeated and unwanted e-mail notifications.

• Do not use restricted names or characters when naming databases, dimensions, members, aliases, or dimension measure templates. For a list of illegal names and characters, see the Oracle Hyperion Performance Scorecard, Fusion Edition Release 11.1.2.0.00 Administrator’s Guide.

• Back up all attachments for initiatives, employee profiles, and notes, in addition to status symbols before uninstalling or updating your application server. See the Oracle Hyperion Performance Scorecard, Fusion Edition Release 11.1.2.0.00 Administrator’s Guide.

• Specify an application framework before creating Strategy Trees, Accountability maps, and Cause and Effect maps since this determines the default map element hierarchy and ordering.

• Do not delete a performance indicator to which measure or scorecard ranges are attached.

• Avoid having multiple browser sessions open simultaneously on the same computer.

• Exit all pages by clicking Save to avoid losing data.
