The figure shows an Oracle Database Firewall deployment with f5 BIG-IP ASM Web Application Firewall. The extreme left end of the figure shows the Web Clients. These Web Clients send and receive http and https requests to/from the f5 BIG-IP ASM Web Application Firewall. The f5 BIG-IP ASM Web Application Firewall communicates with the Web Application Server. It also communicates with the Oracle Database Firewall.

The Web Application Server connects to the Oracle Database Firewall, which sits between the Web Application Server and the Database Server. SQL statements flow from the Web Application Server to the Oracle Database Firewall. The Oracle Database Firewall then communicates with the Database Server. The Oracle Database Firewall also communicates with the Syslog server using Syslog messages containing user name, IP address, user cookies, and other data.
