Chapter 4

Performing Operations on Statistic Values

The statistics store includes predefined operations specified as part of the statistic identifier. An identifier that specifies an operation on statistics is also called a synthetic statistic.

The sstore info command shows the units of an operation (for example, bytes per second).

Statistic slice notation can be useful for specifying the arguments for an operation.

The operations that can be performed on a statistic depend on the statistic type. The following operations are available:

  • Minimum: op.min(optional-percentage)

  • Maximum: op.max(optional-percentage)

  • Average: op.avg(optional-agg)

  • Difference: op.difference

  • Quotient: op.quotient

  • Sum: op.sum

  • Product: op.product

  • Rate: op.rate

  • Delta: op.delta

  • Utilization: op.util

  • Top values: op.top(optional-limit,optional-metric)

  • Unit conversion: op.convert(required-unit)

  • Filter: op.filter(required-value)

  • Number of data points: op.count

  • Value change points: op.changed
