You use the Group for LMS property to indicate to a Learning Management System that a module or section should be considered as one unit in the outline. These units can be launched and tracked individually when a user accesses the content.

A group cannot contain another group. If you designate a high-level outline item to be grouped for an LMS, any groups at a lower level within its structure are ignored. For example, if there is a module which contains 3 sections, and you designate the module and all 3 sections to be grouped for an LMS, only the module is considered a group.

The Group for LMS property is set to No by default. If you do not change it for any item in the outline, then the LMS generates the full outline. If you change the Group for LMS property to Yes for the top-level item (module or section) in the outline, the LMS displays an outline with only that item in it, and a user must launch that item to see the content. If you change this property to Yes for items which are at lower levels in the outline, the LMS generates an outline showing only those items, and they are each individually launchable.

Although scored items within the LMS group (assessments, inline questions, and topics with Know It? mode available) display a pass or fail indicator in the outline when completed, the LMS group as a whole is an unscored item and its completion status is either "completed" or "incomplete". See LMS Groups in the Deploy the Player through an LMS section in the Deploy the Player chapter of the Content Deployment guide.

Note: This property is not needed for topics, as they are considered individual units by default.
