You can delete an assessment from any outline as needed. When you delete an assessment from an outline, only the link to the outline is deleted; the assessment and the questions it contains are unaffected and remain in the Library.

If you delete an assessment from the Library, the assessment is removed from the Library and from any linked outline. The Missing Document icon Missing Document displays in all locations where the assessment was linked to an outline. Deleting the selected document only, deletes the assessment without deleting the questions in the assessment.

Warning! Deleting an assessment with related documents, also deletes the questions that only link to that assessment. Questions that link to other assessments or outlines are not deleted since they are used by other documents. To see where a question is used, select the question and open the Related Documents toolpane. The bottom pane lists the other assessments that link to the question or a parent module or section if the question is used as an inline question in an outline.

Note: Deleting an assessment can cause broken links in your content. See Broken Links in Questions and Assessments in the Manage Document Relationships chapter of the Content Development guide for more information.
