Description of the illustration ftp_dsl

This figure shows a basic DSL service setup. This setup consists of an electrical path (line) between a subscriber and a DSLAM. The line is associated with an individual telephone number. The DSLAM is connected to an ATM switch through a virtual connection in the provider network. The ATM switch is connected to a router though a virtual connection. The router exchanges data between devices at the customer site and the Internet.
