What causes a SmartHeap error on Windows XP?

This error occurs because of the set up and the service pack installed on the machine. Typically Windows XP with Service Pack 2 installed on a machine configured for East Asian languages (Unicode) will cause the following SmartHeap error when running Documaker software:
