The Oracle Hyperion Smart View for Office installer is improved for ease of use, streamlining the install and upgrade process. Among the improvements are:
A single installer for 64-bit and 32-bit versions of Microsoft Office
Automatic display of the installer in the language set in the Format field of the Windows Region and Language dialog box
Seamless upgrades with no need to uninstall or delete files
Additionally, this release lays the groundwork for internet-based installations.
Instructions for using the installer are in the Oracle Hyperion Smart View for Office Readme.
From the Document Contents pane, you can now change connections in a Smart View document. This is useful when sharing an Office document between departments that point to different servers or when moving from a test to a production environment.
You can change the connection properties for all entities in a document that share the same connection information (for example, all worksheets or grids that point to the sample application and database on a particular server). Or you can change the connection information sheet by sheet.
From the Document Contents pane, select the Modify Connections command from either the bottom of the pane or the right-click menu. See “Modifying Connections” in the Oracle Hyperion Smart View for Office User's Guide for instructions.
The Document Contents pane can now be completely hidden when another pane is displayed in the Smart View Panel. When you click the down arrow in the Home button in the Smart View Panel and select another pane, such as the Shared Connections pane or Private Connections pane, the Document Contents pane is no longer displayed at the bottom of the Smart View Panel, even in a minimized format.
You can still minimize and resize the Document Contents pane, as in previous releases.
You are no longer required to refresh the contents of a form before submitting data after a POV change.
Note that when you are working in a form and you click Submit Data, you are actually writing data back to the latest POV selected in the POV toolbar. Oracle recommends performing a Refresh whenever you make changes to the POV. The refresh updates the data on the sheet to reflect the latest POV change.
With this release, Smart View added functionality to display fully qualified variable names when variable names are duplicated. This helps to identify variables defined at the global, application, and database levels.
Two new VBA functions are introduced in this release: HypHideRibbonMenu() and HypHideRibbonMenuReset().
HypHideRibbonMenu hides the ribbon menu item passed into the function.
HypHideRibbonMenuReset resets visibility of the menu items hidden on the sheet using HypHideRibbonMenu.
These functions are supported for Office 2007 and above.

Starting with this release, Smart View is supported on the following platforms:
Microsoft Windows 8
Microsoft Office 2013 (32- and 64-bit)
Smart View is now supported on Microsoft Surface Pro tablets.
Download and run the Smart View installation program, as described in the Oracle Hyperion Smart View for Office Readme. Once installed, the same functionality of Smart View on a PC will be available to you on the Surface Pro.
Starting with the 184.108.40.206.310 release, when connecting to Smart View data sources, shared connection information could be added to an XML file, stored on a user's local drive, and used to connect to shared providers. In Release 220.127.116.11, the shared connection XML file can now be stored on a web server and accessed by all users that you, as the Smart View administrator, designate.
Storing the shared connection XML file on an HTTP server simplifies the Smart View administrator's task of providing shared connection URL information to users.
In this release, the shared connection XML file method is the only way to connect to Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition providers using a shared connection; however, Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition connections can also be made using private connections. This feature now gives administrators the option of storing the XML file on each user's local machine or on an HTTP server and granting access to users.
Users point to the XML file location on the HTTP server in the Shared Connections URL field of the Options dialog box. They can then access the available connections as they would any other shared connection to which they have access.

After installing Smart View, the online help is retrieved from a URL hosted on the Oracle.com web site. This is the default behavior for Smart View and no changes are required by users to launch help.
However, you may require that the help be installed locally or on a web server in your organization. Some examples for the need to access help from a location other than Oracle.com are:
Help files must be installed on a local drive on an individual's computer for Section 508 accessibility purposes.
Internet access limitations; for example, your users only have access to URLs on your organization's intranet.
To accommodate the above types of cases, you may download from My Oracle Support and place it on a local drive or web server.

Function Builder usability is improved with two new enhancements in this release:
Cell references to two cells
Prior to this release, you could enter references to single cells for connection, label, data/text, or variable arguments. Starting with Release 18.104.22.168, you can also enter references to two contiguous or noncontiguous cells for dimension/member references. References cannot be made to cell ranges of more than two cells.

A new Validate button in the Function Arguments dialog box allows you to see and correct errors immediately, before executing a function. The types of errors that may be noted are:
Connection offline or invalid
Member name is invalid or not matching selected alias
Dimension name is invalid or not matching selected alias
Incomplete Dimension#Member combination
Generic “Error” in cases of missing quotation marks or other minor syntax errors
Because you can see and correct errors on-the-fly, the validation feature saves you time in troubleshooting any problems in your function.

A new VBA function is introduced in this release: HypUIConnect(). HypUIConnect prompts the user with the Connect to Data Source dialog box when the user name and password is not provided. It does not prompt if already connected.

The new Hyperion Planning Admin Extension for Smart View allows Oracle Hyperion Planning administrator users to import and work with metadata in Smart View. With this extension, Planning administrators can use Oracle Hyperion Smart View for Office applications to perform these tasks:
Add, edit and import existing Oracle Hyperion Planning dimensions and members, including moving members and designating members as shared in Smart View
Create and refresh cubes
