Chapter 1: What’s New in This Release
This chapter contains information on new product features for Extensibility Pack 3.5 of Oracle Agile Product Lifecycle Management for Process.
What’s New in This Release?
This extensibility pack contains two new solution packs and four new Report Packs:
- Hierarchy Denormalization
- Hierarchy Navigator
- Report Packs for the ADMN, EQuestionnaire, GSM, and SCRM modules
Hierarchy Denormalization
Oracle Agile PLM for Process stores objects, such as specifications, along with the relationships to each other, in a normalized database schema, making inserts, updates and deletes highly efficient while minimizing its size. The challenges with having a normalized schema are that it can make custom SQL queries complex and possibly not optimal for bulk data retrieval.
Hierarchy Denormalization provides a streamlined solution to this data access problem by storing the object relationship information in a single table, allowing for simple and efficient hierarchy retrieval.
Many solutions can use this table to provide functionality such as hierarchical navigation and reporting. The Hierarchy Navigator Solution Pack leverages this process.

Hierarchy Navigator
Hierarchy Navigator provides a way for customers to see the hierarchy of objects that make up a single physical object. The Hierarchy Navigator is available in GSM and SCRM. User can use the tree view to navigate to other objects or export a report of the hierarchy.
Formulation Hierarchy Example
The Hierarchy Navigator not only allows you to see and navigate your entire hierarchy it includes the ability to filter by status or object type so you can quickly check a hierarchy.
For example, with one filter change you can quickly see if all suppliers that participate in this hierarchy are approved or if all packaging and material specifications used within the hierarchy are approved.
Hierarchy Navigator filters are extensible as well as the
tree itself. You can contextually launch reports from each node in the
hierarchy tree.

Reporting Packs
The four new Report Packs include 12 new Oracle BI Publisher reports that can
be launched from within Oracle Agile PLM for Process using navigation
extension.
The ADMN Report Pack contains the following reports:
- UGM Access Report is designed for a system admin to
view all
UGM Groups, permitted users, and special permitted users (i.e. Authors,
Owners or Signators) that have access to the GSM specification on a
specific workflow at a specific status.
- UGM Access Details Report is intended to be
launched from a hyperlink within the Access report, providing the access
detail for the specified specification and user from which the report was
launched. At a glance, the System Admin can determine if a user has Read,
Write, or Workflow permission and view details that allows or denies the
user access to the specification.
- Basic Statistics Report exposes a view to all basic counts of active users, approved suppliers, GSM specifications (by workflow, specification type and Category), NPD objects (Projects, Strategic Briefs and Innovation Sales Pipelines) and PQM objects (Issues, Actions and Audits).
The eQ Report Pack contains the
following reports:
- eQ Dashboard report enables a view into open and completed eQs across eQ owners, suppliers and eQ types. The eQ Dashboard also exposes trending information on supplier response times and total open eQ counts by supplier.
- eQ Dashboard – SP report enables a supplier to view open and completed eQs across suppliers contacts and exposes trending information on supplier response times and total open eQ counts. This report was intended to be launched from a navigation extension in supplier portal
GSM Report Pack contains the following reports:
- Material Cost Matrix report was designed to be launched from navigation extension from a material or packaging material specification and can be utilized by formulators to quickly view the cost information for a specific GSM objects across all Cost Sets (or Facilities). This reports requires the population of the cost book.
- Spec Lineage History report can be utilized by specification administrators that would like to be able to view a specification’s complete lineage history with cross reference information to help understand a specification’s history and corresponding cross reference information.
SCRM Report Pack contains the following reports:
- Sourcing Approval Risk report is intended to be launched from a navigation extension from within PLM4P and utilized by purchasing personnel to identity packaging material specifications, printed packaging specifications, and material specifications that have only “approved” sourcing approvals from one Supplier (Company), or no sourcing approvals at all.
- Supplier Rationalization report is intended to be launched from a navigation extension from within PLM4P and utilized by purchasing personnel to identity Suppliers that have limited approved sourcing approvals for GSM specifications as defined by the user in the input parameter.
- Supplier Compliance Report – CF report should be utilized by users that manage supplier documents that are attached to companies or facilities. This report pulls all “Non-Archived” SDM Documents for Companies and Facilities and exposes details about supplier documents including Days until Due and Days until Expired.
- Supplier Compliance Report – SA report should be utilized by users that manage supplier documents that are attached to Sourcing Approvals. This report pulls all “Non-Archived” SDM Documents for Sourcing Approvals and exposes details about documents including Days until Due and Days until Expired.
- Supplier Compliance Report – SP report is designed to be launch from a navigation extension from within Supplier Portal. When this report is executed, it will pull all “Non-Archived” SDM Documents for Companies, Facilities, and Sourcing Approvals and expose details about supplier documents including Days until Due and Days until Expired.
All Report Packs are released as reference implementations. These reports should be copied to another folder within Oracle BI Publisher prior to using or customizing to your specific requirement.
