This figure shows a sample Contacts Server deployment consisting of three front ends and two back ends. A load balancer spreads client CardDAV/HTTP requests among front-end hosts. The front-end hosts access an LDAP server for user information. The front-end hosts also access two database hosts by using the SQL/TCP protocol.
