Create dynamic servers

Before you begin

  1. Create server templates.
  2. Since dynamic servers must participate in a cluster, configure the server template to be associated with a cluster.

Note: You must select a cluster that is not used by any other dynamic servers or configured servers.

Use dynamic servers to easily create homogeneous clustered servers. Dynamic servers are based on a shared server template that specifies the configuration of the servers in the dynamic servers cluster.

To create dynamic servers:

  1. If you have not already done so, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Lock & Edit (see Use the Change Center).
  2. In the left pane of the Console, select Environment > Dynamic Servers.
  3. In the Dynamic Servers table, click New.
  4. On the Dynamic Servers Properties page:
    1. In Name, enter a unique name for the new cluster of dynamic servers.
    2. In Server Template, select the server template you want to use to define the characteristics of each of the servers in this dynamic servers cluster.

You must use a server template that participates in a cluster.

    3. In Number of Servers to Create, enter the number of servers you want this cluster of dynamic servers to support.
  5. Click OK.
  6. To activate these changes, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Activate Changes.
Not all changes take effect immediately—some require a restart (see Use the Change Center).

Result

The new cluster of dynamic servers appears in the Dynamic Servers table.
