This figure shows an Oracle Fusion Middleware SOA Suite sample two-node high availability architecture.
Requests from the Internet are handled by a load balancer in the web tier, which routes each request to either WEBHOST1 or WEBHOST2 in the web tier. Oracle HTTP Server is installed on WEBHOST1 and WEBHOST2.
SOAHOST1 and SOAHOST2 are the application tier hosts. The Oracle WebLogic Administration Server is installed on SOAHOST1 and SOAHOST2. An Oracle WebLogic cluster (named WLS Cluster) is set up on SOAHOST1 and SOAHOST2, with managed server WLS_SOA1 SOA-infra running on SOAHOST1 and managed server WLS_SOA2 SOA-infra running on SOAHOST2. A Coherence Cluster is also set up for SOAHOST1 and SOAHOST2.
VIP1 is set up on SOAHOST1 and it allows for server migration to SOAHOST2 if SOAHOST1 fails. VIP2 is set up on SOAHOST2 and it allows for server migration to SOAHOST1 if SOAHOST2 fails. VIP0 is set up for the Administration Server installed on SOAHOST1.
In the data tier, the SOA configuration and MDS for the managed servers is stored in an Oracle RAC database. Transaction Log and JMS data for the SOA managed servers is stored on a shared disk.
