Notes on Saving Crystal Ball EPM Models

To store Crystal Ball EPM data defined in Smart View for either Planning or Strategic Finance, you must save the Smart View-connected workbook to disk using a Microsoft Excel command. Then, when you open the stored workbook and reconnect, the Crystal Ball EPM assumptions, decision variables, and forecast definitions are retained and available for use.

If you are using Strategic Finance, you must use the Excel Save As command to avoid overwriting a temporary workbook. For other Strategic Finance considerations, see Strategic Finance Notes.

Saving the Excel workbook temporarily retains the grid of values on disk. For Planning and Essbase, selecting Submit in Smart View commits the grid data directly to the server. For Strategic Finance, selecting Submit in Smart View writes it to a client-side copy used for calculation. Then, you must either check in the server entity to commit to server storage or use Save As (or Save, for previously saved files) to commit to a local entity file.
