The figure treatment_objects.gif shows a diagram that describes the workflow for using treatment objects, by using boxes to represent different processes and workflow arrows to describe their relationships. The diagram is split into two columns: the first column, Study-independent objects, occupies the left two-thirds of the diagram, while the second column, Study-specific objects (recipe), occupies the remaining space on the right side. The Study-independent objects area is split into three rows of boxes with slightly different qualities, but all three start with the Active substance and Dos form boxes on the left, both leading to the Drug box, then to the Single regimen box. The first row has three boxes also leading into the Single regimen box: Titration, Range, and Daily dosage. In the first row, Single regimen and Pattern both point to the Treatment pattern box in the right column. The Single regimen boxes in the second and third rows of the Study-independent objects area point to the Combination regimes box, and two other boxes point to this one: Sequence regimens and Dosage frequency. The Combination regimes box then leads to the Treatment pattern box in the Study-specific objects (recipe) area. This area has the Treatment pattern box at its top, which points downward (with the arrow labelled Assign) to the Study Intervals box, which is also pointed to by the Intervals box in the left column. At the bottom of this area is the Study stratification box, which is pointed to by the Strata box.
