General Parameters - Credit Card Configuration Setup

Select System Configuration > Setup > Property Interfaces > Credit Card Interface > General Parameters to set up the general parameters for the property's credit card interface. On the Credit Card Configuration Setup screen, provide the following information and select the OK button.

Hotel ID. Enter the property ID.

Property. When the OPP_MHT2 Multi-Property Cross Reservation add-on license is active, you can select a property from a list of values.

Use as Chain Code in CC Msgs. This check box is available when the Credit Card Vault functionality is active and there is an active CCW Interface. When checked, the Hotel ID field data is populated in the ChainCode attribute in all credit card messages (for the current logged in property) exchanged with the credit card vendor.

All Properties. This check box is available when Use as Chain Code in CC Msgs is checked. In a multi-property environment, the Hotel ID field data is added/updated to all properties in that schema (if ASP, all properties within that logged in property’s chain) and populated in the ChainCode attribute in all credit card messages exchanged with the credit card vendor.

CC Reader.  Select the down arrow to choose the number or code for the credit card reader device. The CC Reader Description appears to the Right of the CC Reader field.

Time Out. Enter the number of seconds after which a credit card approval lookup is canceled. (To the right is a view- only list of the field separator symbols used by the credit card reader.)

Automatic Scheduled Batch Credit Card Authorization

Batch credit card authorizations can be performed automatically by End of Day processing. In addition, you may use either one of two additional methods to run batch credit card authorizations: You may run batch authorizations manually by selecting the Cashiering > Credit Cards > Authorization option (see Credit Card Batch Authorization), or you may configure OPERA to run batch authorizations automatically at a regular interval.

Note: Automatic Scheduled Credit Card Authorization does not prevent check in and check out credit card authorization activity.

Provide the following information in the Automatic Authorization Schedule section  to set up automatic batch authorization.

Active. Select this check box to activate the automatic scheduled batch authorization feature. By default, this check box is not selected.

Interval.  Enter the interval between automatic authorization runs, in minutes. The minimum is 60 minutes.

End of Day Processing and Automatic Batch Processing

When this feature is active, it is possible that End of Day processing will coincide with a scheduled batch authorization run.

If End of Day processing has already begun running batch credit card authorizations, any concurrently scheduled automatic authorization run will be skipped and postponed until the next regularly scheduled run.

If a scheduled automatic  batch credit card processing run has already begun at the point when End of Day processing attempts to run its own batch credit card processing, End of Day processing will skip batch credit card authorizations. The End of Day processing report will show the batch credit card authorization job as Completed.

Printed Batch Authorization Reports

After each scheduled batch credit card authorization run, a report showing any declined authorization requests and other problems is automatically printed to a designated printer. To identify the printer where this report should run, use the IFC > AUTOMATIC AUTHORIZATIONS PRINTER application setting. If a printer is not identified for this setting, the report will not be generated.

CC Web Configuration

OPERA's credit card interface supports Web enabled transaction processing using high- speed connections over VPNs or secure HTTP on the public Internet. Use the features in this section to configure OPERA for Web enabled transaction processing.

Note: When one of the following three, FKT_CCC 3C Communications, FKT_GCS Global Card Services, or FKT_SDC Southern DataComm, add-on licenses is active and enabled, the CC Web Configuration portion of the setup screen appears.

Cashier ID. ID number of the cashier. If a cashier ID is not available, one will be assigned to be used as the default.

URL. The web address of the location where the credit card software is located. This location can be on-site or off-site.

Send End of Day. Select to send a message that the End of Day procedure was run and the credit card information was sent out to the appropriate establishment.

Settle American Express Direct. (Southern DataComm feature only) Select to settle all American Express credit card transactions directly with American Express.

Send Resort as Location. (Southern DataComm feature only) Select if the credit card system will be used at multiple properties. This will send the resort name to determine the location of where the transaction occurred.

Send Resort as Terminal ID. (Southern DataComm feature only) Select if the credit card system will be used at multiple properties. This will send the resort name to determine which terminal, on what property, where the transaction occurred.
