Territories

Territories are the geographical sales areas where accounts and contacts are located. This information can assist Sales Managers in decision-making and can be used as filters in preparing sales reports. Territory information can be provided on company, travel agent, source, and contact Profile screens. Once Territories have been configured, they can be linked to the postal codes (Configuration>Profile>Cities and Postal Codes). When a new account or contact profile gets created and the combination of country code and postal code range has a territory code linked to it, the territory code will default in the Territory field in those profile screens.

Select Configuration>Profile>Geographical Data>Territories to set up sales territories. The Territories screen appears.

The Territories screen shows the following information.

Code. Code that represents the territory.

Description. Description of the territory code.

Seq. Number that controls the position of the territory in displays.

Adding and Editing Territories

To create a new territory, select the New button from the Territories screen. To modify an existing territory, highlight your choice on the Territories screen and select the Edit button. The Territories - New or Territories - Edit screen appears. You may also inactivate and delete unused territory codes.

Code. Enter a code for the territory (for example, NA for North America, AU for Australia, etc.).

Description. Enter a description for the territory code.

Display Seq. Enter a number that will control the position of this territory when listed in screen displays. Territories that do not have a display sequence number appear in alphabetical order following the territories that have a sequence number assigned.

You can also inactivate a code from the main grid by highlighting the code and selecting the Inactivate button. Inactive codes will not be available for selection on a profile, but will be available for selection in filters and queries.
