KIS Return: CourseStage Entity

The Create Extract process creates up to seven CourseStage entities in the Course Stage Extract Data record (SSR_HE_CST_EXT) for each KISCourse entity where the derived KISTYPE = 1 or 3. If no CourseStage records are defined for the academic plan or subplan then no entities are created.

The fields are derived and stored in the CourseStage Fields Extract record (SSR_HE_CSTEX_FL).

Field Derivation Rule: Include for all CourseStage entities.

Derivation Steps:

  1. If STAGE is derived from Step 1 (subplan) and either (a) the total of the three Assessment fields is 100 or (b) no Stage Modules are defined, derive from the same CourseStage record.

  2. If STAGE is derived from subplan, and at least one Stage Module record is defined for the subplan stage, derive as the average value for each of the modules weighted by FTE.

  3. If STAGE is derived from Step 2 (plan) and either (a) the total of the three Assessment fields is 100 or (b) no Stage Modules are defined, derive from the same CourseStage record.

  4. If STAGE is derived from plan and at least one Module record is defined for the plan stage, derive as the average value for each of the modules weighted by FTE.

  5. If STAGE is derived from Step 3 (program) and either (a) the total of the three Assessment fields is 100 or (b) no Stage Modules are defined, derive from the same CourseStage record.

  6. If STAGE is derived from program and at least one Module record is defined for the program stage, derive as the average value for each of the modules weighted by FTE.

Note: For steps 2, 4 and 6 after all three assessment fields (COURSEWORK, PRACTICAL and WRITTEN) have been derived, if the total of all three fields does not equal 100 or zero the derived value of the field with the largest value is adjusted to ensure that the total equals 100. The largest value is adjusted to ensure that a zero value is not adjusted to -1.

  2. If STAGE is derived from subplan and at least one Stage Module record is defined for the sub-plan stage, derive as the average value for each of the modules weighted by FTE.

  3. If STAGE is derived from Step 2 (plan) and either (a) the total of the three Learning Method fields is 100 or (b) no Stage Modules are defined, derive from the same CourseStage record.

Note: For steps 2, 4 and 6 after all three Learning Method fields (SCHEDULED, INDEPENDENT and PLACEMENT) have been derived, if the total of all three fields does not equal 100 or zero the derived value of the field with the largest value is adjusted to ensure that the total equals 100. The largest value is adjusted to ensure that a zero value is not adjusted to -1.
