Set chart properties

Before you begin

Launch the Monitoring Dashboard and display or create a view, as explained in Display views.

When you create a chart, it is created with default visual and control properties. You can change those properties for an individual chart, or globally for all charts, as follows:

You can use the chart editor to modify the following properties of an individual chart:
- Chart title
- Names of individual metrics displayed in the chart
- Y-axis units label

You can use the Chart Properties dialog box, available from the chart menu, to set the following properties of an individual chart:
- Chart title
- Chart colors — For information, see Set individual chart properties.
- Y-axis range settings — For information, see Control the Y-axis range.
- Threshold values for showing whether a data point falls outside the normal value range for a metric — For information, see Display thresholds in charts.
- Time range — For information, see Set chart time range.
You can use the Dashboard Preferences dialog box to set the following properties for all charts for a given user:
- Sampling properties for displayed metrics
- Default time range for time series charts
- Default zoom increment, which determines the percentage by which the time interval displayed in the viewport is increased or decreased when zooming in or out
- Default chart type
- Default display properties for the chart overview
