Installation Information

Late-breaking information about the installation of EPM System products is provided in the Oracle Enterprise Performance Management System Installation and Configuration Readme. Review this information thoroughly before installing EPM System products.

Oracle Database Requirements

  • If you use Oracle Database Client 10.2.x or 11.1.x for Financial Management, you must set the StmtCacheSize registry setting for Oracle OLE DB to 10 on all Financial Management application servers and Web servers. This is due to a memory issue in Oracle Provider for OLE DB. The registry setting path is: Hkey_Local_Machine\Software\Oracle\Key_Homename\Oledb. Note that the 11.2.x Oracle Database Client should not be changed.

To resolve the high memory usage, enable Statement Caching. The configured value must not be zero. The recommended value is between and 1 and 10.

    1. Edit the registry value: Hkey_Local_Machine\Software\Oracle\Key_Homename\Oledb Value Name: StmtCacheSize Value (decimal):1, where Key_Homename refers to the appropriate Oracle Home.

    2. Stop and restart the Financial Management application processes.

  • In addition, if you are using System 11 on a 64-bit operating system with a 10g database, the Oracle OLE provider on all Financial Management servers must be at least 10.2.0.4.21+.

If you are using 32-bit with 10g, the Oracle OLE provider version MUST be at or greater than the database server version. If you are running 32-bit or 64-bit and using 11.1.0.6 or 11.1.0.7 OLE Provider, you must upgrade to Oracle Database Client 11.1.0.7.33+.

Known Issues

The following are the noteworthy known issues of this release.

Application

  • If you do not properly shut down Financial Management, temporary files may remain upon reboot. To ensure optimal performance, delete all *.db.* filenames from the Server Working Folder before launching Financial Management.

  • If you do not allow enough space in the initial creation of the relational database tables, you can create applications, but not open or delete them. To create database tables, refer to your database guide.

  • To run Calculation logic on the Value dimension Adjustment members, you must enable the AllowAdjs entity attribute. Otherwise, the entity may not change to an OK status.

  • 19887986 - If all the modules are disabled in the module configuration, you will not be able to re-enable them using a module configuration load. Use the Module Configuration screen to enable them.

  • 19481332 - When you attempt to enable Admin Mode during a data load, the data load process stops and returns an error message.

  • 19430958 - If you load a Module configuration file with an incorrect file name, the load process stops and the application does not open.

Database Support

18644909 - DB2 is not supported with Financial Management 11.1.2.4.

Data Forms

  • 20006746 - In data forms, the Value dimension member does not display correctly in Cell Information.

  • 19904290 - If you use Internet Explorer 11, and data is already present in a cell, clicking on the cell to edit it will display a small x on the right. This is the expected behavior in IE11.

Deprecated Features and Utilities

The following features and utilities are deprecated in Financial Management 11.1.2.4:

  • HFM Windows and Object SDK

  • Copy Application utility

  • Index Update utility

  • Audit Extract utility

  • HFM ErrorLog Viewer utility

Extracting Data to a Database

19323855 - For Oracle databases, ignore the Test Connection button, as it results in an error. You must create an entry in the tnsnames.ora file. Enter the TNS identifier in the Host field. The typical location for TNSNames.ora is under the EOI/../config/dbclient/ directory. If an Oracle database is being used, then a tnsnames.ora file is already created by config tool, and can be edited. If an Oracle database is not used for the main HFM server, you must select a location and set the TNS_ADMIN environment variable to point to the directory in which it exists.

19150085, 19150074 - When you extract data, if you select multiple accounts, the data extract format is incorrect.

FDMEE

  • Oracle Hyperion Financial Data Quality Management, Enterprise Edition and source ERPs support special characters in member labels, such as "-" and "/". Financial Management does not support these characters for member labels.

  • Exchange rates are not interfaced directly into Financial Management, and users must manually select them from the AIF_HS_EXCHANGE_RATES table and manually insert them into Financial Management.

Intercompany Transactions

19652441 - In Process Intercompany Transactions, the filter does not apply the row filter for some actions, such as UnMatch and Manual Match.

Journals

In Organization by Period applications, if you select inactive child-parent combinations, an "invalid parent or child/parent combination" or "invalid entity" error message is displayed.

Lifecycle Management

20024090 - In Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Lifecycle Management, the data export may not successfully complete, and result in an error message that there are pending tasks.

Linux

  • 20321669 - Financial Management requires UTF-8 encoding on Linux. The LANG environment variable must be set to UTF-8 encoding, for example: en_US.UTF-8, zh_CN.UTF-8.

  • 20197888 - While extracting Intercompany transactions on Linux, the dates are extracted in dd/mm/yy format.

  • 20160951 - The e-mail alert and drill through transactions are not available from the generated Intercompany reports on Linux.

Loading Data

17572583 - When you load data, the Replace option does not work correctly when you load phased submission data.

Manage Ownership

19932334 - If Manage Ownership screen is set as the default screen and a user has only Consolidate and Manage Ownership roles with security access rights set to ALL, they may receive errors while working with the Manage Ownership screen. Provision the user for the Review Supervisor role to avoid errors.

Oracle Databases

The following database settings are recommended when using Oracle databases with Financial Management:

  • OPEN_CURSORS=5000 - needed to allow for larger transactions (as well as ODBC support)

  • PROCESSES= (whatever is needed to support the expected number of applications and application servers), based on numbers derived from the Installation guide section titled "Database Connection Pooling".

  • To improve performance in Oracle, the DBA should run statistics on the ICTTransactions table. There are a variety of utilities and commands available to perform this task. Following is a sample of one of the commands that you can use: ANALYZE TABLE APPNAME_ICT_TRANSACTIONS COMPUTE STATISTICS.

  • Oracle 11.1.2.x databases use a Deferred_Segment_Creation feature that is enabled by default in all installations. A table is created only after a row of data is inserted. If you use the Export (EXP) utility to back up your database, any table that does not contain rows will not exist in the report (for example, metadata DESC tables) and Financial Management may not start against a restored database due to the tables being missing.

You can disable this feature by logging in to your instance using SYSTEM or SYS and change the setting to force tables to be created automatically. Issue the command:

    Alter system set deferred_segment_creation=false;

Any table created after issuing this statement will be created automatically. If you already have an instance with empty tables and want to export the application, you can alter each table individually to force creation and allow the table to be used by the EXP (export) command. Issue the following command for each empty table:

    Alter table <table_name> allocate extent;

Oracle Data Integrator Knowledge Module

The Oracle Data Integrator knowledge module (KM) is unavailable for Oracle Hyperion Financial Management in EPM System Release 11.1.2.4 and Oracle Data Integrator Release 12c. Customers are encouraged to use the native features in Financial Management or FDMEE, or to create custom solutions using Oracle Data Integrator, but without the Financial Management knowledge module.

Security Administration

19588537 - Access control for a user is only applied for one session.

Smart View

  • 19949400 - In Smart View, the Find Members function always searches based on [Hierarchy].

  • 18904015 - In Oracle Smart View for Office, member indentation does not display correctly for Totals.
