Purpose

This document includes important, late-breaking information about this release of Oracle's Hyperion Strategic Finance. Review this Readme thoroughly before installing Oracle Hyperion Strategic Finance.

New Features in This Release

For new features relating to installation, architecture, and deployment changes in this release, see “New Features in this Release” in the Oracle Hyperion Strategic Finance Readme.

If you are applying the maintenance release from Release 11.1.2.0, 11.1.2.1, 11.1.2.2, or 11.1.2.3, use the Cumulative Feature Overview tool to review the list of new features added between those releases. This tool enables you to identify your current products, your current release version, and your target implementation release version. With a single click, the tool quickly produces a customized set of high-level descriptions of the product features developed between your current and target releases. This tool is available here:

Note:

HFM and FDM integration is no longer supported.

These new features are implemented in this release:

  • Import and Export data using Command Line Utility

  • Import and Export data using the SmartView interface

  • New Java API offering access to various Strategic Finance features (replaces HSF .NET Web Services API)

Installation Information

Late-breaking information about the installation of Oracle Enterprise Performance Management System products is provided in the Oracle Enterprise Performance Management System Installation and Configuration Readme. Review this information thoroughly before installing EPM System products.

Oracle Smart View for Office is no longer installed with the EPM System installer. To download and install the latest release of Smart View, go to http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/smart-view-for-office/overview/index.html

Conversion Utility for Strategic Finance Upgrades

If you are upgrading to Strategic Finance Release 11.1.2.4 from releases prior to 11.1.2.2.00, you must run a conversion utility to convert your Strategic Finance entity files to 11.1.2.4. Patches containing this utility will be provided for all supported prior releases. This conversion will convert Entities, archives, translation files. For additional information, see the Enterprise Performance Management System Release 11.1.2.4 Installation and Configuration Guide.

Defects Fixed in This Release

This section includes defects fixed in Release 11.1.2.4.000. To review the list of defects fixed between earlier releases, use the Defects Fixed Finder This tool enables you to identify the products you own and your current implementation release. With a single click, the tool quickly produces a customized report of fixed-defect descriptions with their associated platforms and patch numbers. This tool is available here:

  • 16185849 - The freestyle report displays the historical average inputs correctly. However, the forecast methods is set to constant for all periods.

  • 16205131 - The account numbers are now displayed in the accounts column rather than Description column.

  • 14763416 - The Time properties feature is now available in SmartView. You can view the Time properties from the Analysis grouping label, select Time, and then select Time properties.

  • 14756412 - Setting up time period wizard for the smallest period week is working.

  • 14701682 - You are now able to switch between account view and reports.

  • 16208185 - Some strings such as: “TargetEntities”, and “Use 360 Day Interest Calculation” were not translated and only display in English.

Known Issues

The following are the noteworthy known issues of this release.

  • 20000747 - HSFIMPORTEXPORT utilities can only be run on the Server machine.

  • 16280652 - The “Save Template” and “Extended Setup” dialog boxes were not translated and only display in English.

  • 16237274 - Several Time Period Setup Wizard buttons such as: Help, Back, Next, Finish, and Cancel were not translated and only display in English.

  • 16232392 - The password feature for local entity files is deprecated. This feature is not available in Smart View.

  • 20245372 - Users may encounter 404 File not found error, while accessing Manage Users and Groups via Shared Services, it may not work because it depends on the users configuration.

  • 20359140 - While upgrading from previous releases to 11.1.2.4.000, the default port for HSF server is sometimes set to 7751 instead of the standard 7750.

Online Help in Internet Explorer

Some tables and text may display incorrectly in online help when using Internet Explorer 9.

Copying and Pasting Code Snippets from PDFs

When you cut and paste code snippets from a PDF file, some characters can be lost during the paste operation, making the code snippet invalid. Workaround: Cut and paste from the HTML version of the document.
