Autorecover a Document


After completing this topic, you will be able to use Autorecover to recover unsaved documents.


Steps:

  1. You have opened a topic and added text to an Explanation frame. However, you have not saved the changes.

  2. You have also opened the existing Printer Locations web page and updated some information.

  3. In addition, you started a new, unsaved web page, but have not added content to it.

  4. While you were working in the Developer, your system crashed and you had to reboot your computer.

  5. Restart the Developer.

     

    Click the Start button in the taskbar.

  6. Point to the All Programs command.

    Step 6

  7. Click the User Productivity Kit Client command.

  8. Click the Developer Client command.

  9. The Developer recovered three documents. You can open or discard all recovered documents.

     

    Click the Open All button to open all of the recovered documents.

  10. The (Recovered) text in the tabs indicate that these are the recovered versions of the documents.

  11. View the Explanation frame that you did not have a chance to save for the Changing the Page Setup topic.

     

    Click the X frame.

  12. The recovered version of the document includes the Explanation frame and the text. Save the recovered document.

     

    Note: Saving the document automatically overwrites your previous version. Use Save As and give the document another name if you want to retain your original version.

     

    Click the Save button.

  13. The recovered document automatically replaces the original document and the text (Recovered) is removed from the document tab.

  14. Close the Changing the Page Setup topic.

     

    Click the Close button.

  15. The recovered, unsaved web page does not contain any content. Close the web page without saving it.

  16. Do not save the document.

     

    Click the No button.

  17. The final recovered, unsaved web page does contain content that you want to save but you want to save it with a new name.

  18. Click the File menu.

  19. Click the Save As command.

  20. We have entered the web page name for you. Save the web page with the new name to the selected folder.

     

    Click the Save button.
