Suppress the Preview of Attachments


After completing this topic, you will be able to suppress the preview of linked attachments in the Outline Editor.


Steps:

  1. View the concept linked to the Document Security section.

     

    Click the Document Security section.

  2. The concept of the module links to a video. The video launches every time you select the Document Security section in the Outline Editor.

    Step 2

  3. While you are developing your content, you may want to suppress the execution of media output such as videos and presentations, or linked Internet/intranet web pages (URLs).

    Step 3

  4. Select another document in the outline to stop the playback of the video.

     

    Click the WordPad Training module.

    Step 4

  5. Open the Options dialog box and change the preferences for displaying attachments in the Concept pane of the Outline Editor.

     

    Click the Tools menu.

  6. Click the Options command.

    Step 6

  7. Click the Preview category.

    Step 7

  8. You can suppress the preview of all attached documents using the All option, or select the document types that you want to suppress. Suppress the preview of package files.

     

    Click the Packages option to deselect it.

    Step 8

  9. Suppress the preview of Internet and intranet web pages.

     

    Click the URLs option to deselect it.

    Step 9

  10. Save the preview changes.

     

    Click the OK button.

  11. View the concept for the Document Security section.

     

    Click the Document Security section.

  12. A message appears in the Concept pane instead of the video.

     

    The message informs you that you can click the Preview document button in the Concept pane toolbar to view the concept and that you can use Tools/Options to return to automatic preview.

  13. Preview the concept.

     

    Click the Preview document button.

  14. The video clip starts playing in the Concept pane.

  15. Click the Creating and Opening Documents section.

  16. The concept for the Creating and Opening Documents section links to a web page. Because you did not suppress the preview of web pages, the web page appears in the Concept pane.

  17. Click the Templates section.

  18. The concept for the Templates section links to a URL. Because you suppressed the preview of URLs, it does not appear in the Concept pane.

  19. Preview the concept.

     

    Click the Preview document button.

  20. The URL appears in the Concept pane.

  21. Enable the preview of packages and URLs. Open the Options dialog box.

     

    Click the Tools menu.

  23. Click the Preview category.

  24. Use the All option to enable preview of all document types.

     

    Click the All option.

  25. The first click deselected all options. Select the All option again.

     

    Click the All option.

  26. Preview is enabled for all document types.

     

    Click the OK button.
