The Style Editor provides several toolbars of icons and controls for creating and editing styles. In most cases, you need to use more than one toolbar to achieve the formatting you desire. A style can be edited only when it is selected, and you can select only a single style at a time.

If you apply a format that produces undesirable results, you can undo changes that you made in the Style Editor.

Note: New styles automatically inherit formatting attributes from the document body style, other default styles, or from the browser defaults. Manually applying another format for an inherited attribute breaks the inheritance. You can restore the inheritance by removing the applied attribute. See Style Inheritance for more information about restoring inherited attributes.

To format a style:

  1. Select the style you want to format.

  2. Use the Style Editor toolbars to apply the desired formatting for the style, and each print and language variation.
