The Oracle FS Path Manager (FSPM) for Oracle Solaris works with the Solaris I/O multipathing features to manage SAN paths to Oracle FS System , and to integrate with the Oracle FS System Manager to provide information on the SAN paths. The communication between the FSPM and the Oracle FS System is provided by a Control Path that is separate from the Data Path. The Solaris I/O multipathing features manage the LUN data access path. FSPM (not the Solaris I/O multipathing feature) manages the Control Path.
The following figure illustrates how the FSPM software installed on a SAN host interacts with an Oracle FS System.
