You should be aware of which software updates are disruptive before you perform them. Oracle FS Systems implement disruptive software updates by restarting the entire system to bring up the new software. User applications lose access to the Oracle FS System storage arrays during a disruptive software update.
You need to perform disruptive updates under the following conditions:
The system is not reporting a Normal state
Pinned data is found within the system
The compatibility matrix validation needs to be overridden to complete the installation
System alerts are active
A previous software update failed
The new Controller BIOS version is an newer version than the current version installed on the system
Another task fails to complete within 10 minutes of starting the update
