Drive replacement is a procedure performed using Guided Maintenance. The replacement drive can be a new drive or a drive previously used in a Drive Enclosure.
The Oracle FS System considers all drives as foreign drives until you accept the drives into the Drive Enclosure. If data exists on the drive you are inserting, all the data is lost when the drive is accepted.
You start the drive replacement process using Guided Maintenance. Guided Maintenance prepares the system and the Drive Enclosure for the drive replacement. After you have inserted a replacement drive into a Drive Enclosure, continue using Guided Maintenance to complete the process.
