Relocating LUNs

You can relocate a LUN from its assigned Controller to another Controller.

If you relocate a LUN from one Controller to another, the system reconfigures the volume at the new location while attempting to maintain the integrity of the data.
Caution
If a client attempts to modify that LUN while the LUN is being relocated, the client loses its connection and data becomes corrupted or lost. Before you relocate a LUN to another Controller, clients unmount the LUN to ensure data integrity during the move.

Keep LUN copies on the same Controller as the source LUN until the background copy has completed. You can monitor the status of this task from the Task window.

Important! If the LUN is a member of a SAN replication pair, isolate the pair before relocating the LUN to a different Controller. For more information, see the Oracle MaxRep for SAN User’s Guide.
