Service Types

The service type of a Controller defines how the Controller cache is to be optimized in support of the SAN protocol.

Possible service types:

SAN Only
100 percent of cache is allocated to SAN
Biased to SAN
70 percent of cache is allocated to SAN, 30 percent of cache allocated to NAS
Note: Both Controller nodes must be set to the same service type.

If you are adding or removing hardware, the Controllers must be shut down and powered off, disrupting data access to the system, so that the resources can be reallocated. If you are not adding or removing hardware, only a restart is needed.
