Lets you select which Storage Classes to use for tier migration. You can also specify whether tier migration is enabled for the auto‑tiered LUN.

Storage Classes for Auto‑Tiering

Use All Classes
Specifies that the auto‑tiering feature uses all of the Storage Classes that are available on the Oracle FS System.
Note: Oracle recommends using the default value of Use All Classes.
Use only the following

Specifies that the auto‑tiered LUN uses only the selected Storage Classes. Deselecting a Storage Class from the list excludes that Storage Class and its capacity from tier migration.

Excluding less expensive Storage Classes and including high performance Storage Classes causes immobile storage capacity. Immobile data occurs when the system cannot migrate the data to a lower Storage Class. Data that cannot migrate to a lower Storage Class is considered immobile and the storage capacity that this data occupies is immobile. Immobile capacity can significantly restrict the efficiency of tier migration.
Note: A Storage Class that contains the text “(not present)”, indicates that the particular class is not available in the Storage Domain. However, when the storage becomes available then the tier migration process uses that Storage Class.
Tier Reallocation Enabled

Specifies whether to apply storage tier migration to the LUN. Selecting the Tier Reallocation Enabled option does not override the disabled Tier Reallocation setting in the Storage Domain.

When enabled, the system moves data from one storage tier to another storage tier to achieve the best overall performance and lowest overall cost. For the tier migration process to work, select the Tier Reallocation Enabled option and enable the same option in the Storage Domain.
