Modify Controller Service Type Dialog

Navigation: System > Hardware > Controllers > Actions > Modify Controller Service Type

Modifies the Service Type of a selected Controller.
Desired Service Type
The Service Type defines how much memory is optimized for I/O performance to support either SAN or NAS by reallocating cache resource. The cache allocations are approximate.
Note: Both Controllers must be set to the same Service Type.
Note: The service type can be selected based on the type of HBA installed. For example, if you are using the Ethernet port on the system, you would choose NAS Only. If you only have an FC HBA installed, you would use SAN Only.
Available Service Types:
SAN Only

Allocates 100 percent of cache allocated to SAN.

NAS Only

Allocates 100 percent of cache allocated to NAS.

Biased to SAN

Allocates 70 percent of cache allocated to SAN, and 30 percent of cache allocated to NAS.

Biased to NAS

Allocates 70 percent of cache allocated to NAS, and 30 percent of cache allocated to SAN.

Data Access Disruption Required

Shutdown

Controllers shut down to enable hardware to be removed and added as necessary. When the Controllers are powered on, the Desired Service Type is applied.
