Replaceable Unit

Replaceable Unit

Displays the drives available in a drive group. The details about a selected drive are displayed on the right-hand side of the dialog.

Status (Drives)

Provides the operational state of the drive in the drive group. Oracle FS System Manager (GUI) displays a status icon followed by the drive state.

Possible states, by status icon:
 alternate image text  (Normal)
The following operational states are associated with a normal drive status:
Normal

The drive is a member of the drive group.

Not Used

The drive is operating normally, but is not a member of a drive group.

 alternate image text  (Warning)
The following operational states are associated with a warning drive status:
Booting

The drive is starting up.

Copy Away Source

The system has detected a failure on the drive and is currently copying the data to a target drive. The drive state changes to Failed when copying is complete.

Copy Away Target

The system has detected a failure on another drive and is currently copying the data to this target drive.

Copyback

An active spare drive is copying data to this drive.

Degraded Connectivity

The connection to the drive is limited to only a single Controller.

Foreign

The drive is not a member of this drive group. Accept this drive using the associated System Alert to make the drive a member of the drive group.

Missing

The drive is not found in the Drive Enclosure.

Rebuilding

The drive is a target of a rebuild operation for a drive group.

Recovered

The drive has failure history, but is now online and is not a member of a drive group.

Recovered In Use

The drive has failure history. The drive is now online and is a member of a drive group.

Shutdown

The system is in shutdown mode and cannot access the drive.

Unknown

The system is unable to read the drive state.

 alternate image text  (Critical)
The following operational states are associated with a critical drive status:
Critical

The drive has experienced a failure.

Restore

The drive is currently being restored.

Make this drive group the primary drive group

Make the drive group the primary drive group within the Drive Enclosure. The primary drive group contains system configuration data.

RAID Levels and Status

RAID Level

Indicates the types of RAID data protection that is provided by the selected drive group.

Each entry in the table represents a particular set of minimum allocation units (MAUs) in the drive group. Each of the MAUs in a given set has the same level of RAID protection, forming a RAID protection segment for the drive group.

If a drive goes offline, the event affects all of the MAUs in the protection segment in the same way. Therefore, the reported status for a given RAID level applies to the entire protection segment.
Single Parity

Indicates that each of the MAUs in the RAID protection segment uses one set of parity bits to protect against the loss of one drive in the drive group. Single parity is implemented as a variant of the RAID 5 storage technology.

Double Parity

Indicates that each of the MAUs in the RAID protection segment uses two sets of parity bits to protect against the loss of one or two drives in the drive group. Double parity is implemented as a variant of the RAID 6 storage technology.

Mirrored

Indicates that each of the MAUs in the RAID protection segment is written across two drives in the drive group. Mirrored RAID is implemented as a variant of the RAID 10 storage technology.

RAID Status
Possible states:
Normal

Indicates that the drive group is accessible and no action is required.

Degraded Warning

Indicates that the drive has failed in the drive group, but the drive group is still accessible. Replace the failed drive. If the drive group is the primary drive group, then replace the drive immediately. The primary drive group contains system overhead, including all system configuration data.

Degraded Critical

Indicates that two or more of the drives have failed. The drive group can become inaccessible unless you replace the drives.

Failed

Indicates that multiple drives have failed. The drive group is not accessible. Replace the failed drives. After the failed drives are replaced, the drive group becomes accessible.

Unknown

Indicates that the drive status information is not available to display.
