Copy a LUN

You can copy an existing LUN and give the new LUN different QoS properties. Copying a LUN allows system resources to be maximized for the task at hand.

For example, if you have a volume copy that is used for reporting purposes, you might want to assign to the copy a lower performance Storage Class and a higher read-centric access pattern than you would assign to the source volume.

You can also copy a Clone LUN. The copy then is independent of the source LUN from which the clone was created. You might want to copy a Clone LUN when you do not want to recover any changes to the source LUN.

  1. Navigate to SAN > Storage > LUNs.
  2. Select a LUN from the list that you want to copy.
  3. Select Actions > Copy LUN.
  4. Enter a new, unique name for the LUN.
  5. Update the QoS parameters and remaining fields, selecting the tabs as necessary.
  6. Click OK.
