Connect the SAS Cables to the Drive Enclosures

Caution
Use the Drive Enclosure strings that were assigned during the manufacturing process. The build map that is included in the shipment provides information about the assignment of Drive Enclosure strings. Additionally, the labels on the SAS cables also identify the Drive Enclosure strings.

For each Drive Enclosure string, cabling the Drive Enclosures follows the same, logical sequence. The following steps provide the proper sequence for the cabling of five Drive Enclosures in the first string. Refer to the wiring diagrams for guidance when cabling Drive Enclosures.

  1. Connect the straight end of the C13-to-C14 power cords to the power cooling modules on each Drive Enclosure.
Note: The C14 ends of the C13-to-C14 power cords are angled to provide a flush fit at the power distribution units (PDUs). Do not connect the power cords to the PDUs at this time.
Note: Non-Oracle PDUs might require different power cords from those included in the shipment. You can order alternate power cords from Oracle.
  2. Cable Drive Enclosure 1 to Drive Enclosure 2.
    1. Connect the end of the cable labeled “DE-1 IOM0-1” to I/O module 0, port 1 on Drive Enclosure 1.
    2. Connect the other end of the cable, labeled “DE-2 IOM0-0,” to I/O module 0, port 0 on Drive Enclosure 2.
    3. Connect the end of the cable labeled “DE-1 IOM1-0” to I/O module 1, port 0 on Drive Enclosure 1.
    4. Connect the other end of the cable, labeled “DE-2 IOM1-1,” to I/O module 1, port 1 on Drive Enclosure 2.
  3. Cable Drive Enclosure 2 to Drive Enclosure 3.
    1. Connect the end of the cable labeled “DE-2 IOM0-1” to I/O module 0, port 1 on Drive Enclosure 2.
    2. Connect the other end of the cable, labeled “DE-3 IOM0-0,” to I/O module 0, port 0 on Drive Enclosure 3.
    3. Connect the end of the cable labeled “DE-2 IOM1-0” to I/O module 1, port 0 on Drive Enclosure 2.
    4. Connect the other end of the cable, labeled “DE-3 IOM1-1,” to I/O module 1, port 1 on Drive Enclosure 3.
  4. Cable Drive Enclosure 1 to Drive Enclosure 4.
    1. Connect the end of the cable labeled “DE-1 IOM0-2” to I/O module 0, port 2 on Drive Enclosure 1.
    2. Connect the other end of the cable, labeled “DE-4 IOM0-0,” to I/O module 0, port 0 on Drive Enclosure 4.
  5. Cable Drive Enclosure 2 to Drive Enclosure 4.
    1. Connect the end of the cable labeled “DE-2 IOM1-2” to I/O module 1, port 2 on Drive Enclosure 2.
    2. Connect the other end of the cable, labeled “DE-4 IOM1-0,” to I/O module 1, port 0 on Drive Enclosure 4.
  6. Cable Drive Enclosure 2 to Drive Enclosure 5.
    1. Connect the end of the cable labeled “DE-2 IOM0-2” to I/O module 0, port 2 on Drive Enclosure 2.
    2. Connect the other end of the cable, labeled “DE-5 IOM0-0,” to I/O module 0, port 0 on Drive Enclosure 5.
  7. Cable Drive Enclosure 3 to Drive Enclosure 5.
    1. Connect the end of the cable labeled “DE-3 IOM1-2” to I/O module 1, port 2 on Drive Enclosure 3.
    2. Connect the other end of the cable, labeled “DE-5 IOM1-0,” to I/O module 1, port 0 on Drive Enclosure 5.
