Setting Up Load Balancing for Store-and-Forward Messaging

Siebel Store-and-Forward messaging requests service from the Handheld Sync server components. To prevent a Handheld Sync server component from becoming a bottleneck, you can use a load balancer to process messages on multiple Handheld Sync server components in different Siebel servers. For this purpose, you can deploy either the Siebel Load Balancer or a third-party load balancer.

Store-and-Forward Messaging also allows you to deploy multiple queue managers for individual remote devices or machines. Siebel Load Balancer and Multiple Queue Managers are separate features. Both of these features are optional and can be used individually or together.

This section describes the deployment and use of the Siebel Load Balancer. For information about deploying a third-party load balancer, see 477835.1 (Doc ID) on My Oracle Support. This document was previously published as Siebel Technical Note 540.
