Creating Store-and-Forward Messaging Message Objects

A Message Object is designed to transport all of the necessary data for a given object instance to the Siebel Handheld database. The object must reflect the definition of the underlying object in the Siebel Handheld configuration. To modify a message object, you must first modify the underlying Handheld objects and then perform a Generate Message Objects. In this way the message object is indirectly altered to ensure it stays in line with the Siebel Handheld application's definition of the business object.

You must populate message object and message component fields in the Store-and-Forward Applications view. Doing this allows you to review message objects, message components and fields for Siebel Handheld applications, or to set up Store-and-Forward Messaging timeout parameters for Siebel Handheld applications.

Observe the following requirements for the Handheld Synchronization Object Manager:

  • All servers that host a Handheld Synchronization Object Manager must be based on the Windows operating system.
  • Java is not required for the Handheld Synchronization Object Manager.

NOTE:  This task can be completed by following the steps below, or if the Siebel Handheld application has been enabled to use Store-and-Forward Messaging, the first handheld synchronization session can populate the data also. To populate the data by means of the first Siebel Handheld synchronization session, the first user used for synchronization must have the responsibility to see all the views for the Siebel Handheld application. Otherwise, the message objects populated might be incomplete.

To manually create Store-and-Forward Messaging message objects

  1. Navigate to Administration—Store-and-Forward > Store-and-Forward Applications.
  2. From the Store-and-Forward Applications drop-down menu, select Create Message Objects.
  3. In the Store-and-Forward Generate Objects Popup applet, enter the following values:
    In this field...
    Enter this value...

    HH Sync Component Name

The object manager name for the handheld sync component; for example, ServiceCEObjMgr_enu for the American English version of the Siebel Service Handheld application.

NOTE:  If you are configuring a Siebel Industry application (such as Siebel Pharma Handheld) to use Store-and-Forward Messaging, enter SIAServiceCEObjMgr_enu.

    HH Sync Server Name

The Siebel Server name where the handheld sync server component runs.

  4. Click the Generate button.
  5. After the generation process, the message objects, message components, and message fields are populated.
