This section addresses the functional enhancements included in Oracle Retail Xstore Suite, Release 20.0.
As our customers continually look for methods to deliver services closer to their customer base, a number of retailers have utilized a combination of temporary store formats. These temporary stores form two distinct groups, each with its own characteristics. The first is a truly one-time use event, where a store needs to be stood up, has its own inventory and staff, runs for a period of time and then closes. We refer to this as an event store. The second format is either regular activities such as parties, catwalk shows, mall events and so on, or the use of additional selling space in a mall. We identify these as extension stores, and they typically share inventory equipment, staff, and are a child of a parent store. In this release, Xstore is delivering new deployment models designed to specifically address these two types of temporary activities and deliver remotely located Cloudlets that can support the necessary transacting via wireless communications.
Supporting the mobile only store delivered in Release 19, Xstore mobile has been extended to provide an offline model that, in the event of wireless or LAN failure, enables an associate to continue to capture the necessary elements for a sale and complete the sale. The data is captured onto the mobile device and will be delivered to the store Cloudlet/Store primary when the network connections are re-established. This ensures that a retailer is able to continue trading no matter the state of their communications network.
The new mobile search option (visible on all menu screens) allows the associate to search for any menu options within the application and bring that feature to the surface. This will reduce the time spent navigating menus as well as provide a more rapid ability to access key data elements required for decision making during the general operations of the store.
With more mobile devices being introduced into store and used across floors, departments, and operations, the use of lists to determine which hardware to select slows the associate's ability to service their customers. As part of this release, Xstore now supports the scanning of QR codes associated with devices to quickly select and assign them to a work flow. This feature supports Payment devices, Receipt printers, as well as full format invoice printers. The support for lists is maintained as a fail over in case of QR code related issues.
Xstore Mobile introduces the following usability enhancements with this release:
Dark Mode
device settings for enabling dark mode and accessibility focus assist
enhanced till count
new number, date and phone number entry
restyled field entry for handheld devices
the status bar displays on iOS now
improved error messaging for connectivity issues
new quick action button to begin a sale
Xstore continues to extend the Country Accelerators offered with the solution as well as update existing accelerators to meet the changes being introduced by many of the authorities around the world. In the latest release of Xstore, India and New Zealand have been added as additional countries, while updates have been completed for Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Poland, Sweden, Austria, United Kingdom, Mexico, Japan and Netherlands. Additionally, changes to continue to align with Tax Free shopping requirements have also been updated and some additional functionality has been added.
As many countries move towards electronic document submission for tax authorities, Xstore has delivered a new framework to provide the data required by the authorities. By building a framework that exposes the data elements as a standard globally, local certified government partners can now build the necessary services quickly to deliver files in the relevant formats around the world. This new framework can be extended by Oracle quickly and effectively to ensure any future information submission requirements can be addressed at a common framework level rather than at a country level as it had been the case in the past. This approach enables customers to deliver a solution for many additional countries with minimal configuration effort and by selecting global submission partners, this may require no additional work after the first integration.
The following Xstore payments enhancements have been made:
Additional Xstore Card Token functionalities have been added (alongside associated EFTLink changes).
Card Not Present (CNP) payments can now be made using customers saved "Card Token", enhancing security for telephone sales and orders.
Also, additional payments response data is received from EFTLink, that can be used for enhanced reconciliations and analytics. Finally, Xstore now supports integration with a new EFTLink Paypal core plug-in.
