Which Jobs are Active Batch Jobs?

The Work with Active Jobs screen displays the batch jobs that are running on the CWSerenade application server where you are currently logged on. The top of the Work with Active Jobs screen indicates the name and IP address of the CWSerenade application server. For example, if the name of the CWSerenade application server is cwserenade-server1 and its IP address is 123.45.678.9, a message indicates:

Active jobs for current server (cwserenade-server1/123.45.678.9) only.

Important: The Job Management Screen displays submitted jobs across all CWSerenade application servers, while the Display Active Batch Jobs Screen displays only batch jobs that are running for the specific CWSerenade application server where you are currently logged on. In order to review all batch jobs that are currently running, you need to log into CWSerenade using each application server and review the Display Active Batch Jobs screen.

Verifying the Status of Active Batch Jobs

The My Jobs field on the Display Active Batch Jobs Screen indicates if the status of the batch job on the Job Management Screen is accurate.

Note: The steps you take to verify the status of the background async jobs differ from the steps outlined below; see Troubleshooting the Async Jobs for more information.

Status in My Jobs Field:

Indicates:

Action to Take:

RUN

The batch job is running and the status of the job on the Job Management Screen is accurate.

No action is needed; the batch job is running successfully.

MSG

The batch job is running, but the status on the Job Management Screen is not accurate.

Right-click on the My Jobs field for the batch job and select Change to RUN to update the status of the batch job on the Job Management Screen to RUN.

END

The batch job is running, but a user has manually ended the job on the Job Management Screen.

ERR

The batch job is running, but a user has manually ended the job on the Job Management Screen while its status was MSG.

*RMV*

The batch job is running, but a user has removed the job from the Job Management Screen.

End the process that submitted the job. For example, if the batch job is associated with an integration layer process, you will need to use the Working with Integration Layer Processes (IJCT) menu option to end the integration layer process. Once you end the process associated with the batch job, the system ends the batch job and removes it from the Display Active Batch Jobs Screen.

Note: If you cannot end the process by selecting it at the Job Management Screen or through the Working with Integration Layer Processes (IJCT) menu option, the job ends automatically when you restart the SERENADE service.

If a Batch Job is not on the Display Active Batch Jobs Screen

To troubleshoot:

• First, verify that the job is not running on another CWSerenade application server. The Display Active Batch Jobs Screen displays only batch jobs that are running on the CWSerenade application server where you are currently logged on.

• If the batch job is not displayed on the Display Active Batch Jobs Screen for any of the CWSerenade application servers, the batch job is not really running, regardless of the status of the job on the Job Management Screen or the status of the process that submitted the job.

To correct a job history with inconsistent status:

1. On the Job Management Screen:

• Select the job

• Right-click anywhere in the Job listings area and select End

• Select the job again

• Right-click anywhere in the Job listings area and select Remove.

2. If the process that submitted the batch job is listed as active, change its status to inactive.

3. Restart the process that submitted the job in order to resubmit the job.

4. Verify that the batch job is now on the Display Active Batch Jobs screen and that the Job Management displays its status as RUN.
