Logging into CWSerenade

Launching CWSerenade in a new window: When you select the CWSerenade URL, it opens in a separate window. The new window displays the CWSerenade Login Screen, while the other window might display a message indicating that CWSerenade is open in another browser window. The new window provides access to CWSerenade without the address bar and back button. Once the login window opens in this window, it is safe to close the original window displaying the message.

Note: If you start CWSerenade without using the separate window, the entire contents of each screen might not be displayed correctly.

When an error page displays: You advance to the CWSerenade login page by entering http://servername:8080/ or http://servername:8080/CWSerenade.html in a web browser, where servername if the name or IP address of the CWSerenade application server. However, if you enter any other data after the last forward slash, such as http://servername:8080/Serenade, you advance to an error page instead.

CWSerenade Login Screen

Use this screen to sign in to the CWSerenade application. You must provide a valid user ID and password and select LOGIN.

Successful login: If the user ID and password are valid, the system authenticates the user, authorizing the user to access the application, and logs the user into the CWSerenade application.

Note: When you first login, if the user’s password will expire within 15 days, the system displays the error message Your password will expire in X days, where X is the number of days remaining. See the User Configuration guide for more information on changing a user’s password and password requirements.

If the login screen indicates that your user ID and password are invalid: This situation can occur if:

• the user ID does not exist. Log in to CWSerenade using another user ID and advance to Working with User Records (WUSR) to verify the user ID exists.

• an invalid password was entered. Log in to CWSerenade using another user ID and advance to Working with User Records (WUSR) to reset the user’s password.

• the user’s password has expired. In this situation, the system displays a Password Expired screen where you can provide a new password. See the User Configuration guide for more information on password requirements.

• the connection to the database server is temporarily lost. You can confirm the problem by checking the CWDirect log and the event log on the database server. To correct the situation, restart CWSerenade. See Restarting CWSerenade for more information.

• you are using LDAP to authenticate and the connection to the LDAP service is temporarily lost.

• the user ID is disabled. The Status of a user ID is stored in the Users table and indicates whether a user ID is *ENABLED or *DISABLED. Log in to CWSerenade using another user ID and advance to Working with User Records (WUSR) to re-enable the user.

If you provide an invalid user ID or password 5 times: The system displays the following error message if you have 5 unsuccessful login attempts:

Next Invalid Login Deactivates Profile

If you enter another invalid login, the system deactivates the user.
