15 Oracle HTTP Server

This chapter describes Oracle HTTP Server (OHS) metrics.

Note:

This book uses the following terminology when referring to the different versions and implementations of Oracle HTTP Server (OHS):
  • Managed OHS 10g: Oracle HTTP server associated with an Oracle WebLogic Server domain

  • Managed OHS 11g: Oracle HTTP server associated with an Oracle WebLogic Server domain

  • Standalone OHS 11g: Oracle HTTP Server in standalone mode (not associated with an Oracle WebLogic Server domain)

  • Managed OHS 12c: Oracle HTTP Server in an Oracle WebLogic Server domain (often referred to as a colocated HTTP server). In this configuration, Oracle HTTP Server is managed through the Oracle WebLogic Server.

  • Standalone OHS 12c: Oracle HTTP Server in a standalone domain. In this configuration, Oracle HTTP Server is managed independently of Oracle WebLogic Server.

For more information about the different implementations of OHS, see the Oracle Fusion Middleware documentation relevant to your release.

15.5 OHS Module Metrics

This metric category contains metrics about Oracle HTTP Server modules.

15.5.1 Request Handling Throughput, for a Module (requests per second)

This rate metric specifies the number of requests handled per second by this module during the last interval. The interval is the period of time specified as the collection frequency for this metric. This metric helps you determine the frequency of requests currently being served by the module. If the request handling throughput is very low, either there is no activity on the Web server for the module, or there is something else going on that is preventing the module from processing requests.

The following table shows how often the metric's value is collected.
