Managing Shifts for Siebel Service

A shift is an established time interval in which employees perform work.

The following procedures related to shifts and shift management are included in this topic:

Displaying Shift Details

You can display shift details by using the Shifts list. You can update shift information, including breaks and periods of unavailability (POUs), only if you use Siebel Real-time Scheduler Version 2.1 or later as your scheduling engine and Siebel Field Service Integration to Oracle Real-time Scheduler Version 2.1 or later integration pack for the integration.


Note:

Updating shift information, including breaks and POUs, is not supported in offline mode.

To display shift details  

  1. Tap the Side Menu icon on the application banner, and then tap Shifts to display the following:

    • The Shift list and details for the selected shift in the right pane or work area.

    • A list in the left pane in which you can select the related items for shifts.

  2. Tap a shift in the Shifts list.

    All details for the selected shift appear below the list in the work area.

  3. To view the related items for the selected shift, tap the following names in the list in the left pane:

Starting and Ending a Shift

Complete the following procedure to start and end a shift.

To start and end a shift  

  1. Tap the Side Menu icon on the application banner, and then tap Shifts to display the following:

    • The Shift list and details for the selected shift in the right pane or work area.

    • A list in the left pane in which you can select the related items for shifts.

  2. Tap a shift in the Shifts list.

    All details for the selected shift appear below the list in the work area.

  3. Tap Start in the work area when you start the shift to record your start time and start date.

  4. Tap Complete in the work area when you end the shift to record your end time.

Starting and Ending a Break

Complete the following procedure to start and end a break.

To start and end a break  

  1. Tap the Side Menu icon on the application banner, and then tap Shifts to display the following:

    • The Shift list and details for the selected shift in the right pane or work area.

    • A list in the left pane in which you can select the related items for shifts.

  2. Tap a shift in the Shifts list.

    All details for the selected shift appear below the list in the work area.

  3. Tap Breaks in the list in the left pane.

    All the breaks associated with the shift appear in the work area, and all details for the selected shift appear above the Break list in the work area.

  4. Tap the break that you want to start or end.

  5. Tap Start when you start the break to record your start time and start date.

  6. Tap Complete when you end the break to record your end time.

Starting or Ending a Period of Unavailability

Complete the following procedure to start or end a period of unavailability (POU) for a shift.

To start or end a period of unavailability  

  1. Tap the Side Menu icon on the application banner, and then tap Shifts to display the following:

    • The Shift list and details for the selected shift in the right pane or work area.

    • A list in the left pane in which you can select the related items for shifts.

  2. Tap a shift in the Shifts list.

    All details for the selected shift appear below the list in the work area.

  3. Tap POUs in the list in the left pane.

    All the POUs associated with the shift appear in the work area, and all details for the selected shift appear above the POUs list in the work area.

  4. Tap the POU that you want to start or end.

  5. Tap the Status field and update the field value.

  6. Save the record when finished.
