About Forms in the User Interface

When you drill down on a record in a list, you see a form, as shown in Figure 4-15, that contains data for the record you selected. A form contains the data for one record.

Figure 4-15 Example of a Form

Surrounding text describes Figure 4-15 .

If you have authorization to edit the information in a form, you can make edits directly in the form. Step off the record to save any edits you make. All required fields appear in the form and appear with an asterisk.

Note:

In some cases, there is also a long form, which you can access by clicking the show more button. For examples of the show more and show less buttons, see "About Show More and Show Less Buttons in Lists".

About Drilldown and Dynamic Toggles in List Applets

To drill down on a record in a list applet that has a dynamic toggle defined, you have to click twice on the record for the drilldown to become effective. The following is an example of what happens when you drill down on a record that has a dynamic toggle defined:

  1. Copy one form applet in a view.

For example, copy SIS Account Entry Applet and rename to SIS Account Entry Applet2.

  2. Set a dynamic toggle on the SIS Account Entry Applet.

For example, if [Fund Eligible Flag] is set to Y, then SIS Account Entry Applet2 is displayed.

  3. Compile the objects.

  4. Click a record for which [Fund Eligible Flag] is set to N.

  5. Click on a drilldown field, such as Name, in Account List Applet which has [Fund Eligible Flag] = Y.

Note that on the first click in the Name field, the correct toggle applet is displayed but the drilldown does not happen. However, when you click a second time in the Name field, you can now drill down on the Name field.

About Record Navigation Buttons in Forms

The record navigation buttons are located at the top right of each form. Use them to navigate between records. When you use the record navigation buttons in a form, you are navigating to the next record or the previous record.
