35 UX One Role: Inventory Control Manager (Release 9.2 Update)

This chapter discusses:

35.1 Understanding the Inventory Control Manager UX One Role

The Inventory Control Manager role, and the associated UX One pages and components, enable users to perform the following tasks:

  • Regulating inventory in a location such as a plant, factory floor, warehouse, store, or distribution center

  • Ensuring that all inventory remains in good condition and overseeing item stocking in timely manner

  • Maintaining accurate data on receiving, production, and shipment of stock

  • Manage inventory planning and re-orders

The Inventory Control Manager pages enable users to receive important alerts, analyze data, and act on the information they see.

Note:

The information provided for you in this documentation describes a specific UX One role, and the associated pages and components, that were delivered.

You can use these role, pages, components, queries, grid formats, and form layouts as they are delivered, or you can modify them to more closely meet the requirements of your organization.

35.2 Prerequisites

Before using the Inventory Control Manager role (INVCLMRJDE), and the components listed in this documentation, your system administrator must complete the steps to associate the user ID with the INVCLMRJDE role.

After this setup is complete, the users will automatically see the main page for their role when they log in to the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne system for the first time.

35.2.1 Prerequisite Reading

Before using the Inventory Control Manager role, you should have a complete understanding of the components and applications that are accessible from the pages. See Introduction to JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Inventory Management.

35.3 Using the Inventory Control Manager UX One Role

You use the Inventory Control Manager role to access these UX One pages:

  • Inventory Control Manager (P41002X/W41002XA)

  • Inventory Status Analysis (P41002X/W41002XB)

  • Inventory Movement Analysis (P41002X/W41002XC)

35.3.1 UX One: Inventory Control Manager Page

The Inventory Control Manager page (P41002X/W41002XA) enables users to:

  • Effectively plan inventory by monitoring items approaching reorder point.

  • Effectively handle inventory exceptions such as negative or zero inventory situations, or inventory that is on hold.

  • Monitor inventory that is about to expire and take proactive measures.

To access the UX One Inventory Control Manager page, log in to the EnterpriseOne system using the Inventory Control Manager role.

Watchlist Alerts

These alerts are based on EnterpriseOne programs. By default, the alerts are set up to use queries that are based on delivered demo data. Each of these queries is associated with a specific program version. To use a different query or call a different program version, you can modify these queries or create new queries that better meet your requirements. Additionally, these watchlists have been set up with specific warning and critical threshold values. You can adjust these values to meet your requirements.

This alert is based on the Work With Lot Master program (P4108).

Items with Zero Inventory This alerts the users about the number of items with zero availability across all branch/plants.

This alert is based on the Item Location Inquiry program (P41205).

When you click the alert, the system displays the Item Location Inquiry form. The following form layout is available:

  • Item Availability Inquiry

The following grid format is available:

  • Basic

  • Simple

Items with Negative Inventory This alerts the users about the number of items with negative availability across all branch/plants.

This alert is based on the Item Location Inquiry program (P41205).

When you click the alert, the system displays the Item Location Inquiry form. The following form layout is available:

  • Item Availability Inquiry

The following grid format is available:

  • Basic

  • Simple

Expiring Lots This alerts the users about the number of lots that are about to expire in a specified period across all branch/plants.

This alert is based on the Work With Lot Master program (P4108).

When you click the alert, the system displays the Work With Lot Master form. The following form layout is available:

Lots On Hold By Status (P41202X/W41202XE) Use this chart to review the number of lots with an on-hold status for a particular branch/plant of a company. The legends describe the reasons for which the lots are on hold.

This chart is based on the Item Location Inquiry program (P41205).

Zero Inventory and Negative Inventory of Items (P41202X/W41202XG) Use this chart to review the number of locations that have items with zero or negative on-hand quantity for various branch/plants across a company.

This chart is based on the Item Location Inquiry program (P41205).

Items Approaching Reorder Point (P41202X/W41202XH) Use this chart to review the number of items that are approaching the reorder point across all branch/plants in a company. This chart displays records for a specific company. Reorder point is a quantity for an item that specifies when replenishment occurs.

You can change the threshold percentage (X) from menu drawer to show the items that have reorder point below 100+X percentage of reorder point.

This chart is based on the F41021, F4102, and F0006 - Join program (V41021UC).

Expiring Lots by Item (P41202X/W41202XF) Use this chart to review the number of lots that are about to expire in a specified period for various branch/plants across a company. The chart displays information of expiring lots for various locations.

This chart is based on the F4108, F41021, F4101, and F0006 - Join program (V41021UX).

You use tasks to access EnterpriseOne programs and other UX One pages. These tasks are included in a springboard on the page.

35.3.2 UX One: Inventory Status Analysis Page

The Inventory Status Analysis page (P41002X/W41002XB) enables users to:

  • Effectively handle cycle count variance.

  • Monitor inventory movement by month.

  • Effectively plan inventory by monitoring items nearing safety stock point.

  • Effectively control inventory by identifying obsolete inventory.

To access the UX One Inventory Status Analysis page, log in to the EnterpriseOne system using the Inventory Control Manager role. When you log in with this role, the system automatically displays the Inventory Control Manager home page. Click on the Inventory Status Analysis task on the springboard to access the Inventory Status Analysis page.

This chart displays records for a specific company. Safety stock is the quantity of stock kept on hand to cover high-side variations in demand.

You can change the threshold percentage (X) from menu drawer to show the items that have on-hand stock below 100+X percentage of safety stock.

This chart is based on the F41021, F4102, and F0006 - Join program (V41021UC).

Cycle Count Discrepancy (P41241X/W41241XA) Use this chart to review the number of items that have cycle count variance for a list of branch/plants of a company.

This alert is based on the Work With Cycle Count Detail program (P41241).

Obsolete Items (P41026X/W41026XA) Use this chart to review the number of items that are obsolete across all branch/plants of a company.

This chart is based on the Item Branch Inquiry program (P41027).

Inventory Movement by Month (P41273X/W41273XA) Use this chart to review the inventory movement for a list of items by month for a particular branch/plant.

  • Improve inventory operations by monitoring inventory movement across all locations and branch/plants.

  • Improve order fill rate by monitoring inventory movement and prioritizing customer demands.

To access the UX One Inventory Movement Analysis page, log in to the EnterpriseOne system using the Inventory Control Manager role. When you log in with this role, the system automatically displays the Inventory Control Manager home page. Click the Inventory Movement Analysis task on the springboard to access the Inventory Movement Analysis page.
