34 UX One Role: Inventory Accounting Manager (Release 9.2 Update)

This chapter discusses:

34.1 Understanding the Inventory Accounting Manager UX One Role

The Inventory Accounting Manager role, and the associated UX One pages and components, enable users to:

  • Align inventory with market trends, top-level strategies, operational constraints, and customer segments.

  • Review items without defined cost or price and monitor inventory to G/L reconciliations.

  • Monitor obsolete items across the organization and take appropriate action.

The Inventory Accounting Manager pages enable users to receive important alerts, analyze data, and act on the information they see.

Note:

The information provided for you in this documentation describes a specific UX One role, and the associated pages and components, that were delivered.

You can use these role, pages, components, queries, grid formats, and form layouts as they are delivered, or you can modify them to more closely meet the requirements of your organization.

34.2 Prerequisites

Before using the Inventory Accounting Manager role (INVACMRJDE), and the components listed in this documentation, your system administrator must complete the steps to associate the user ID with the INVACMRJDE role.

After this setup is complete, the users who log in with this role will automatically see the pages for their role when they log in to the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne system.

34.2.1 Prerequisite Reading

Before using the Inventory Accounting Manager role, you should have a complete understanding of the components and applications that are accessible from the pages. Additional, essential information is provided in the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Applications Inventory Management Implementation Guide. See Introduction to JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Inventory Management.

34.3 Using the Inventory Accounting Manager UX One Role

You use the Inventory Accounting Manager role to access these UX One pages:

  • Inventory Accounting Manager (P41001X/W41001XA)

  • Inventory Valuation Analysis (P41001X/W41001XB)

  • Inventory Cost Analysis (P41001X/W41001XC)

34.3.1 UX One: Inventory Accounting Manager Page

The Inventory Accounting Manager page (P41001X/W41001XA) enables users to:

  • Improve inventory accuracy by handling inventory to G/L reconciliations.

  • Effectively manage inventory by identifying obsolete inventory.

  • Manage defining cost and price for items for various branch/plants.

To access the UX One Inventory Accounting Manager page, log in to the EnterpriseOne system using the Inventory Accounting Manager role.

Watchlist Alerts

These alerts are based on EnterpriseOne programs. By default, the alerts are set up to use queries that are based on delivered demo data. Each of these queries is associated with a specific program version. To use a different query or call a different program version, you can modify these queries or create new queries that better meet your requirements. Additionally, these watchlists have been set up with specific warning and critical threshold values. You can adjust these values to meet your requirements.

Items with Cost Undefined This alerts the users about the number of items for which the cost is not defined.

The alert runs on the P41052 program where the Item Number (Cost File) is not defined. The watchlist considers the item costs defined at the branch level.

This alert is based on the Item Cost Inquiry program (P41052).

When you click the alert, the system displays the Item Cost Inquiry form.

The following grid format is available:

  • Basic

Items with Price Undefined This alerts the users about the number of items for which the price is not defined.

The alert runs on the P41062 program where the Item Number (Price File) is not defined. The watchlist considers item costs defined at the branch level. It considers the item price for the branch level and does not consider the item group and customer group.

This alert is based on the Item Price Inquiry program (P41062).

When you click the alert, the system displays the Item Price Inquiry form.

The following grid format is available:

  • Basic

Obsolete Items This alerts the users about the number of items that are currently obsolete.

This alert is based on the Item Branch Inquiry program (P41027).

When you click the alert, the system displays the Item Branch Inquiry form. The following form layout is available:

Inventory to G/L Reconciliation Transactions (P4111X/W4111XA) Use this chart to review the percentage of transactions for a specific G/L date range that have variances between the item ledger and general ledger. This chart displays data for a specific company on a monthly basis for a specified G/L date range.

This chart is based on the Work With Item Ledger program (P4111).

Obsolete Items (P41026X/W41026XA) Use this chart to review the number of items that are currently obsolete across all branch/plants in a company.

This chart is based on the Item Branch Inquiry program (P41027).

34.3.2 UX One: Inventory Valuation Analysis Page

The Inventory Valuation Analysis page (P41001X/W41001XB) enables users to:

  • Monitor inventory valuation for the most revenue generating inventory to drive critical business.

  • Review item profit margins across various branch/plants for market trend analysis.

  • Keep track of items to manage inventory expenditure.

To access the UX One Inventory Valuation Analysis page, log in to the EnterpriseOne system using the Inventory Accounting Manager role. When you log in with this role, the system automatically displays the Inventory Accounting Manager page. Click the Inventory Valuation Analysis task on the springboard to access the Inventory Valuation Analysis page.

Component Title Description
Item Profit Margin (P41700X/W41700XA) Use this chart to review the items for which the profit margin is lower than the margin specified in the menu drawer, for a particular branch/plant in a company. The chart displays data for various items for a particular branch/plant, location, and lot.

This chart compares the unit price and unit cost if price is defined in the primary UoM for that item. If item cost is defined at the item level, it is not considered for comparison. Cost Method from F4105 and Currency Code from F4106 are mandatory to compute single unit cost value and single unit price value to render the chart correctly.

This chart is based on the F4106, F4105, F4101 and F0006 - Join business view (V41065UX).

Inventory Value Percentage of Item by Branch/Plant (P41202X/W41202XD) Use this chart to review the inventory value of an item, in percentage, for a particular branch/plant.

Cost Method from F4105 is mandatory in the query to have single costing method to derive the unit cost and render the chart properly.

This chart is based on the F41021, F4105, F4101 and F0006 - Join business view (V41021UA).

Inventory Value Percentage of Highest Velocity Item by Branch/Plant (P41026X/W41026XC) Use this chart to review the inventory value of the most frequently ordered item, in percentage, for a particular branch/plant.

Cost Method from F4105 is mandatory in the query to have single costing method to derive the unit cost and render the chart properly.

This chart is based on the Sales Order Detail - Revisions program (V4211C).

Inventory Value Percentage of Highest Cost Item by Branch/Plant (P41202X/W41202XA) Use this chart to review the inventory value of the most expensive item, in percentage, for a particular branch/plant.

Cost Method from F4105 is mandatory in the query to have single costing method to derive the unit cost and render the chart properly.

This chart is based on the F41021, F4105, F4101 and F0006 - Join business view (V41021UA).

The Inventory Cost Analysis page (P41001X/W41001XC) enables users to:

  • Monitor and manager item/lot cost on a monthly basis.

  • Track the cost of items across the years to monitor and manage inventory operational expenditure.

  • Easily access various inventory management programs.

To access the UX One Inventory Cost Analysis page, log in to the EnterpriseOne system using the Inventory Accounting Manager role. When you log in with this role, the system automatically displays the Inventory Accounting Manager page.
