After completing this topic, you will be able to create a new topic using Record It!.
Steps:
From the main Record It! screen, you can
- create a new topic with or without sound
- open an existing topic
- change recording preferences
Step 1View the recording preferences.
Click the Change recording preferences link.
Step 2You can select a different screen key.
Click the Snapshot capture key list.
Step 3The PRINTSCREEN key is the default capture key. You can change the default capture key to any of the function keys, or a combination of the function keys (F1 through F12) and the ALT key, CTRL key, and/or SHIFT key.
Step 4You can select a different key to pause sound while recording.
Click the Sound pause key list.
Step 5The PAUSE key is the default sound pause key. You can change the default pause key to any of the function keys, or a combination of the function keys (F1 through F12) and the ALT key, CTRL key, and/or SHIFT key.
Step 6Click the Cancel button.
Step 7Record a new topic without sound.
Click the New topic link.
Step 8The Recorder opens.
The Recorder prompts you to activate the application you want to record.
Step 9The Recorder prompts you to press PRINTSCREEN, or your default capture key, to start the recording.
The recording process requires two PRINTSCREENS, one to start the recording and a second PRINTSCREEN when you are finished recording.
Step 10The Recorder hides after you press the first PRINTSCREEN so that it is not included in your screen captures.
At this point, you would start recording the topic steps.
Step 11We have selected the list for bullet formatting. The Recorder captures each action as you perform it.
Click the List button.
Step 12Apply the bullet format.
Click the Bullet List list item.
Step 13You can access the Deskband by pointing to the bottom of the screen to display the title bar.
Point to the bottom of the screen.
Step 14You can use the Add a Note button on the Deskband to add author notes to the current frame.
Step 15Author notes can include comments and directions for further editing.
Step 16You continue performing each step in the process you wish to record. If you capture an incorrect action, you can delete that frame in the Record It! editor.
Step 17After recording all of the steps, you press PRINTSCREEN to stop the screen capture and open the recorded topic in the Record It! editor.
Step 18The untitled topic opens in the Record It! editor.
Step 19Use the Save button or the File, Save command to save the topic.
Click the Save button.
Step 20Name the topic and select a save location in your file system. The topic is saved with a .topic extension.
After saving the topic, you can send it to an author who can import it into the Developer.
Click the Save button.
Step 21Close the topic using the File menu.
Click the File menu.
Step 22To close the topic and return to the main Record It! screen, select Close from the File menu.
Note: The Exit command closes the topic and Record It!.
Click the Close command.
Step 23A link to the recorded topic now appears in the Open section.
Step 24After completing this topic, you are able to create a new topic using Record It!.
