View Attachments in the Player

After completing this topic, you will be able to view attachments in the Player.

Steps:

1. We have published the Document Basics module for a Player deployment.

   Step 1

2. The concept of the Document Basics module links to a presentation stored in a package.

   Step 2

3. Click the Creating and Opening Documents link.

   Step 3

4. The concept of the Creating and Opening Documents module links to a web page with text and a graphic.

    

   The author linked the world graphic in the web page to a URL that launches a web site that is stored locally in a package.

    

   Click the "world" graphic.

   Step 4

5. The web site launches in a new tab in the browser. Close the browser tab for the WSG Web.

    

   Click the Close button on the WSG Web tab.

   Step 5

6. Click the Opening a Document topic.

   Step 6

7. The concept of the Opening a Document topic links to a web page with text and a bulleted list.

    

   Each list item links to another attachment, such as a web page, package file, or a URL that launches an Internet web page.

   Step 7

8. The letter bulleted item links to a letter stored in a package.

    

   Click the letter link in the Concept pane.

   Step 8

9. Close the browser tab for the "letter" link.

    

   Click the Close button on the localhost tab.

   Step 9

10. Play the selected topic in Try It! mode to view the frame and bubble attachments.

     

    Click the Try It! button.

11. Click the start link.

12. The first frame contains two frame links.

     

    The first frame uses a light bulb, which is one of the standard icons for frame links.

     

    The second frame link uses a key, which is a custom icon. You can create custom icons for frame links.

13. You can add tooltips to a frame link icon.

     

    Point to the key icon to view the tooltip.

14. The graphic tooltip appears.

15. Open the "graphic" attachment.

     

    Click the key icon.

16. The graphic opens in a browser window. Close the browser window.

     

    Click the Close button.

17. We have advanced to an Explanation frame.

18. The Explanation frame contains a bubble text link to the word "browse." You can link bubble text to a web page or package file in the Library, or to a URL.

     

    In this example, the bubble text links to a web page.

     

    Click the browse link.

19. The web page opens in a browser window. Close the web page window.

     

    Click the Close button.

20. Click the Close button on the bubble to end the topic playback.

21. Click the Templates link.

22. Even though this section contains no topics, it was included in the published content.

     

    When you link the concept of a module or section to an attachment, the module or section appears in the published content, even if no topics are linked to the document.

23. View the video linked to the Document Security section.

     

    Click the Document Security link.

24. The video starts playing in the Concept pane.
