Link a New Module


After completing this topic, you will be able to link a new module.


Steps:

  1. Double-click the WordPad Training module to open it in the Outline Editor.

  2. Link a new module to the root of the outline.

     

    Click the Link menu.

  3. Click the New Module command.

  4. Enter the desired information into the Name field. Enter "Applying Formatting".

  5. Notice that the initial save location is the same folder as the parent document.

  6. Use the Browse button for the Location field to save it to the /WP/Applying Formatting folder.

     

    Note: You can also type the path into the Location field.

     

    Click the Browse button.

  7. Double-click to expand the WP folder.

  8. Click the Applying Formatting folder to select it.

  9. Click the OK button.

  10. Use the Browse button next to the Glossary field to apply the WordPad Terms glossary to the new module.

  11. The WordPad Terms glossary is in the \Content\Attachments folder.

     

    Double-click to expand the Content folder.

  12. Double-click the Attachments folder to open it.

  13. The WordPad Terms Glossary is already selected.

     

    Click the Open button.

  14. Apply the Standard style sheet to the new module.

  17. Save the new module with the rest of the defaults.

     

    Click the OK button.

  18. The new module is linked (and automatically saved) beneath the parent document.

     

    Notice that the icon for the parent document, the WordPad Training module, has changed from a purple page to a purple book now that a child document links to it.

  19. Link another new module to the root of the outline.

     

    Click the WordPad Training module.

  20. You can also link a new module using the toolbar.

     

    Click the Link New Module button.

  21. Enter the desired information into the Name field. Enter "Document Basics".

  22. Use the Browse button for the Location field to save it to the /WP/Document Basics folder.
